"the ambräusianum, the only restaurant brewery bambergs, is located on the sandy road in the middle of the old town and is therefore often visited by tourist. the interiors are very generous, but it is not always easy to find a place. the facility is really original and also the offer of food is usually traditional Franconian. Of course, this is also interesting here: the ambräusianum has three own beers in the offer (light, dark, amber wheat – for undecided as “beer sample” all three beers can be tasted simultaneously in small glasses) as well as seasonal bock beer, double block and sandkerwa hard beer. who wants to visit the non-French country and offer something franconian, is well-resolved here, of course."

"After a cold morning of the walk around Bamberg we were ready for a hearty lunch. We came to this restaurant in large part to get the local specialty smoke beer. There were many seats, even during lunchtime. Our ducks were goulash and cheese spetlze. Both were delicious and the portions were very large and filled. "The selection of foods is not very large. Warm food isn't really there. Despite self-service, the lady at the food counter is not very friendly. Because my wife wanted the hot day dinner and I wanted the cold Vesperteller. The hot food was out and even though we said we didn't want the cold dish either, because it was supposed to have something to eat, the cold dish was just so shy and we should pay what we did then. Our wishes were not accepted. Not like that! We have seen much better and more healthy beer gardens in Bamberg! Otherwise, the beer garden is very nicely located under old chestnuts and has a kindergarten. It is easy to reach on foot, but it takes stamina on the steep mountain."

"absolutely fantastic eating, although the chairs were very uncomfortable, hard to laugh. we arrived with a 19-clock reservation, make sure they have one, and there was a native with local men at our table. they enjoyed her being together and had no hurry to go. they waved us to themselves and since some had already left their group, 3 chairs were empty, so we sat down and started chatting with them. they were a group of friends who had found themselves together in the course of the years from school, work and community. we three ordered our drinks and our dinner and talked nicely with the two who stayed. they ordered another round and sat down to us. germany is one of the places where one shares a table with completely strange people, but in addition to a polite “good appetite” there are usually no talks. Here we talked with two completely strange ones about bamberg, beer, beer gardens, keesmann, aggression, label, tourist, local and living. at the end of our delicious food we finally organized a city tour with one of them who offered us to show us the opposite from local perspective. I ordered the circus, elchgulasch, with red cabbage and kartoffel balls. the gulasch had berry and was sweet, but not too sweet. as much as I thought the red cabbage was good, it was a huge, heavy meal, so I couldn't eat much of the cauliflower or the potato balls. I loved the gulasch and the cauliflower was also warm and tasty. I had a 0.25 liter glass of her dark beer, starla, and that had the perfect size. great taste, not too heavy. my spouse had his pork chop, which was huge and fried and panted what he liked, but it looked like a heart attack. our friend had the same as me and liked it. at the end our meals were great, the waitress maria was very friendly and the two men were pleasant company. my spouse and I even got a local tour through the surrounding area bamberg with two small local breweries where he knew the people and the beer was good."

"I can't really rate the food because I only drank wine for lunch. But my wife had a garden salad that was large and varied and she enjoyed it. A liter of wine (shared, of course) and the salad came to 28 Euros. By the way, I've noticed a new phenomenon in Germany at many cafes and restaurants. They no longer serve free "tap" water, even if you just ask for a glass, say with your espresso. Many now charge 50 cents for a glass of what is called "tapfelwasser" (tablewater) or 1.50 euros for a tiny bottle. This is not mineral water, just American-style bottled tap water."

"American tourists here. I found this place on the recommendation of a German friend. It's a small turnkey remnant at a junction. I went in and there were soft lighting and pleasant crowd. The music was low enough to allow the conversation, and they played a lot of English songs to some classics of Queen, Guns Roses and Billie Joel. The bartender spoke some English and helped make menu recommendations. Beer was cold and fresh. I ordered a steak (listed as a roast beef on the menu) and it was as tender as what I would expect from a steak house in the states. The side potatoes surprised me; cooked only the correct amount with a hearty buttery taste. I stayed until they started closing and had the chance to meet the cook. Everything about friendly personalities here. I highly recommend this place when you travel through Bamberg."

"I ate 3 times in this restaurant, always with friends. a simple and friendly place and eating was plentiful and excellent. I discovered that they serve meatballs, but you have to order them in advance so that the owner can have his Sicilian mother. to pursue them.
