"As previously mentioned, I 'm American. We pride ourselves on our steaks, hamburgers, etc. Meat, in general, is something we tend to love. Even after almost a decade in Europe, I crave a good steak once in awhile. Sadly, Germany (our previous home), has not so good beef as it tends to be tough and small. We 'd had numerous people mention the Restaurant Bahnhof and it 's crazy busy almost any time you pass by the place. It 's directly across from the Mettmenstetten Bahnhof so it 's really hard to miss. The place is very nicely decorated in and out. The use a real grill set up indoors and out in the open where everyone can see it. Our reservation was for 19:30, so, when we walked in it was the tail-end of the mid-week dinner rush. The place, as usual, was full. We were quickly seated and the waitress came and gave us menus, a suggested wine list and asked (in brutal Schwiezer Deutsch) if we 'd like an Aperitif. We had to question her a couple of times what she was asking but we got it, finally. My wife and I chose different cuts of beef from their menu which offers multiple types of meat in gradually larger cuts. They also have fish, salads, etc. Everything seems to come Ala Carte but at least that way, you get exactly what you want. My wife chose a 200 gram and I a 300 gram cut. I also asked for a baked potato and she, the grilled veggies. Our drinks came along with a glass of wine for each of us and we were off and rolling. Not long after, our food arrived and it was perfectly prepared. We 'd both asked for medium-rare and it was exactly that. My potato was large and covered with herbed sour cream and my wife had a large plate of veggies. He happily munched away until we were both pretty stuffed. However, I wanted to try their deserts. The thickly accented waitress brought us desert menues (they have half a dozen deserts and a few types of ice cream and sorbets). I chose a Vanilla ice cream dosed in Jack Daniels. When it came, the waitress brought the bottle of Jack and poured it over my ice cream. I have to admit, I 've never been a fan of American whiskey so it 's my fault but I 'd kind of thought the ice cream would cut the sharpness of the whiskey leaving a nicer flavor. It was 'my favorite '. Again, my fault, not theirs. When the bill came, we were both a bit surprised (yes, we 're new here). In the end, for the small-ish meal and no bottle of wine, the bill tip came to about 200 Francs. OUCH! We 'll go back again, but it 'll definitely be a 'special occasion ' sort of place for that kind of money. Hey, I have a really nice grill at home. I just need to find the meat and potatos to put on said grill. The last couple of thoughts. It 's loud in there... the walls are brick and concrete and there 's nothing to muffle sound. Be warned. It 's also quite warm due to the big grill and the large number of people. Lastly, they seem to stop serving early. I believe that our meals were some of the last of the evening and we were served before 20:00 so plan to be there early."
