"With all sincerity, I can say that this was, by far, the worst "Italian" dinner I've had since moving to the US. The pasta dish was downright disrespectful to Italian cuisine. It was overly mushy—so overcooked that I could have eaten it with a spoon. Italians only eat their pasta al dente; there's no other way. The sauce was bitter and clearly not made from quality San Marzano tomatoes. As for the burnt garlic spread, it lacked simplicity, and in striving for a "scenic" presentation, the taste and warmth were completely lost.
The dessert was another disappointment. Any Sicilian would have tossed that so-called "cannolo" straight into the trash. It wasn't even a proper reverse cannolo, as they called it; the tiny, flat biscuit was rock hard, the crema had no flavor, and the caramel decoration was stuck in my teeth. What a mess. The portion sizes were nonsensical, with plates that were practically empty. The main dish was mostly fat with very little meat; I had seafood, and that was a mistake. There's no way to cook seafood at high altitudes without compromising its quality and flavor. They should choose a more suitable option for the location.
To top it off, we paid $400 per person for this experience. On a positive note, the wine was good and the sommelier was knowledgeable. I don't mind spending a high price for a fantastic dinner, but this was a huge letdown. I felt like I paid $400 for just two glasses of wine and a snowcat ride. What a waste."
