"Come. On. I really don't like to leave bad reviews, but then again I don't often see the need to leave good reviews. I mostly review to warn others. I think I should think more about this aspect of my personality. Am I altruistic? Or is it just easier for me to complain? Uncomfortable truths abound. I'm sure it's hard to keep a restaurant going midweek on such a small island. We salute you for your service, Vine Streer Cafe and Marie Eiffel! Anyway. The kitchen...clearly has issues. They can't course things. Somehow they couldn't get us a dish of olives before onslaughting us with every single thing we ordered. We ordered several things from several sections of the menu. came here to drink, be pleasantly surprised how quantity this place was. our bar station was amazing!

It's a beautiful place on Shelter Island. I had the flatbread pizza which was delicious and my husband had the burger. We really enjoyed our time and service there. The waitress was prompt and made sure to check up on us with our drinks and everything. If possible I would done outside, it's beautifully decorated, has a lovely view of the town, and has cute lights that are perfect for a summer night. It can be a bit on the pricey side but every place seemed to be that way on Shelter Island.

"I'm surprised I haven't checked in past. my favorite place. the most precious, warmest, most beautiful minimal and yet rustic decor with the best weeping and eating. also the journey there during sunset is fantastic. I always feel so good to go to the restaurant. can't wait to go back. my fav are the mush and the best brot of all time. the duck is also amazing. perfection!"

"I have actually been eating here since they opened. South fork resident for 40 years . And SI visitor in my youth. I was a bit shocked at 19 kids chicken fingers ‘and 44 for a bowl of Bolognese. We all split something but still thought a little . However fabulous food and services and great ice cream for kids!!"

"I wish there were six stars with which to rate this restaurant. Nothing on the east end of Long Island compares to it for quality of food. It's like Stone Creek when they were just getting a name for themselves. The building is modest but mostly hand built and creative and cool. The staff are talented, devoted, hard working, proud, and yet quiet and modest. So secluded and hard to get to, being out on Shelter Island, but those who let small obstacles get in the way miss out on a lot. But there are real pros behind the scenes and they are putting it all out there. Start with the houses's Petite Chablis, awesome. Then run, dont walk to the Tuna tartar tacos. There is a franchise just in those tacos alone. The shells are like nothing you have ever tasted. Then order the calamari salad. I never get calamari, but this is a gem. Then, the entrees are everything you could ask for. Take your choice. Nice people, great craft, bon apatite. You can go to the overpriced, mediocre, pretentious, place in town, or you can drive to the Shelter Island ferry and explore cooking as an art and a craft. We live in Westhampton and this is our new favorite place."

"what a great place to get out! diverse menu, we had several different meal times from the menu and all were very fresh delicious, including the guacamole, pico and fries, friendly service. in any case, our newer way, whenever we are on the island!"
