"When The Only on King discontinued their business a few years back, they had recommended The Root Cellar. I brought my husband here for his birthday. Overall we had a great experience, however when our featured soup arrived we noticed there were no crackers or bread. We asked the server if we could have some, and she said it would cost us $2.00 for the bread (toast). When the toast arrived there was no butter, or anything on the toast, by then the soup was gone. We weren 't certain ow of what to do with the plain toast I have just never really experienced this before, thought it was a bit unusual to not provide butter or a substitute."

The food and ambience lived up to the reviews and description. All we tried was fresh and amazing.

Our server, Miriam, was very engaging and knowledgeable about everything on the menu from drinks to mains. She was able to suggest a variation on one of the appetizers I wanted to try to accommodate my dietary needs (since I could not have the crostini, but I could have the sweet potato chips that ended up being a cross between two of the appetizers we were considering. The food was excellent and I will definitely be returning! It was the best dinner out we have had in a long time! : Thank you!

"yesterday here and had a great time, delicious burger and sweet potatoes. very friendly waitress who seemed to know about the menu and understood about allergies and preferences. today sat with different people again, as we had such a great time and found out that the gluten-free bread I had on the day before has an egg in it (which explains my eczema varnish, because I am allergic to egg). waitress and manager were very apologetic, offered us free food (we refused and had only water) and gave us a good license to try to come back. very disappointed. if they are vegan or allergic to something, they should be sure to be very clear! they seem to take allergies seriously, but be warned that plant is not vegan."

"Takeout not recommended. I drove there to pick up an order of the Chicken Bowties. Since it’s on a very busy corner and there is no dedicated pickup location I called to have them bring it out, I waited on the phone for 10 minutes listening to the automated “we’ll be right with you message”. I gave up and went inside although I was illegally parked I had no choice. Once I’m inside there was no hostess, a very nice waitress finally noticed me and came to help and I paid and left. When I get home I opened the package and was shocked to see the portion size was tiny. This is usually a decently sized bowl and this portion was half the size I’ve received when eating in at this chain in the past, really bad value at $24! Overall I’m very disappointed with the pickup experience and even more disappointed with this dish. Only go here for the atmosphere and in person, when you can see what you’re getting.Parking: Only availability is street parking which is always very limited without needing to take a longer walk."

"I had a table reserved for a business meeting or 16. juli for 4 people. they came to dinner to find their facility permanently closed. in the west we work frequent visitors and guests we are talking about and building relationships with. when we bring them to dinner in a closed restaurant, it looks terrible for us. it would have been appreciated if they had called the people who had booked with them to let them know. that is completely unacceptable."
