"Burma Bistro is a cozy little mom-and-pop shop, tucked away in an unassuming Santa Clara strip mall. Their menu is pretty expansive, but if it?s your first time, the staff is excellent about recommending a few ?National Dishes? to try out, and they don?t disappoint. For starters, we had the Palata and Dip, which is like Indian naan or Chinese scallion pancakes. It?s crispy, flaky, chewy, and savory. The dip tasted strangely like corn chowder, but was in fact a chicken curry. And it was freaking delicious. I?m happy to report that after a few bites, I told everyone else in the table that I wouldn?t be sharing. Of course at a Burmese place, you?ll have to try the Tea Leaf Salad. Tea Leaf Salad is awesomely nutty, funky, and refreshing. Translating it to the American palate, it?s most similar to a kind of slaw, but it?s much more savory and flavorful and stands well on its own. Another great dish is the Moh Hin Ga, which is like a vermicelli noodle soup. I probably couldn?t even count the number of ingredients in this dish, but the flavors combine really well to make a really satisfying, hearty soup."
