"Being newer to the Bradenton area, we are still checking out most of the AMI restaurants for the first time. There are so many options! On a Friday evening, we were looking for a place to get dinner on the island with a guest from out of town, one that we hadn't been to before and on the lower end of the price spectrum. We had passed this place several times before, but it's a very hole in the wall joint; still, it seemed to have pretty good reviews and the menu sounded promising, so off we went. Immediately upon walking in, we were struck with the strangest smell that everyone in my group noticed. I won't speculate on the source, but it wasn't something you want to smell as you're eating. The restaurant felt humid and stuffy, my husband was a bit too warm the entire time. Something in the restaurant had his allergies going haywire throughout his meal, from the time we walked in the door. He found signs of water damage in the mens room as well. The place was quiet, with only a couple other diners there at dinner time on a Friday night. But we were already there and decided to stick it out maybe the food would redeem it? The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't quite enough to make me want to give it another shot. The bruschetta starter we shared wasn't great, as the bread was completely soggy. My fish and chips were good, with generously sized fillets of tilapia (seriously, huge! and a nice crunch. My companions felt the same way about their dishes not bad, but not good enough to make up for the overall unfavourable experience. There are too many other options in the area for me to be in a hurry to come back."
