"Berkeley has a strange dearth of Mexican restaurants when compared to the rest of the bay area. That's what makes El Talpense invaluable. They've got it all, and it's all good food. Street tacos . Super burritos . Free chips and salsa . Quesabirria tacos . Happy hour drink deals . Enchiladas, tamales, rellenos, etc. A great spot near campus. Also low-key a great spot to go and watch sports on their TVs."

"Ok, I love Mexican food. But La Perla is one of my all time favorites. The Horchata and tacos are the best of the best. Perla is awesome, she comes out and talks to you. And just really enhances your dining experience. She also makes the best cakes ever. Ask her to see some of her creations. Absolutely incredible. So out of every Mexican I’ve been in my whole life. "Potatoes and barbacoba is so dry and the eggs are way over cooked so dry no taste. We have been there 3 or 4 times to give it a fare chance and everything its been that way and at check out they ask how was your food and when you tell them the truth it don't matter they say sorry but that's it you pay."

"The food was excellent but a little pricey for the portions received. The service was a challenge because the server did not speak/understand English very well. When asked about corkage fees we were told $55... So we went with the house Shiraz (Copper Moon) and that was $55 for a bottle of wine that is retailed for about $7... So all in all good food, WAY over priced!"

"Horrible service. Food was ok. We ordered hot wings as an appetizer, a taco plate, and fajitas. They brought out BBQ wings. We asked for hot so they took them back to the kitchen and just put Buffalo sauce on top of the BBQ sauce then brought them back out cold. We could immediately tell by looking at them (and tasting them) but didn't want to send them back again so we didn't say anything. The waitress and food runner then stood 5ft away from our table, watching us eat, and pointing/laughing about how they brought us the same wings and how we were too stupid to tell. Tacos and fajitas were ok at best. Definitely won't be going back. Should've checked the reviews before going here."

"Amazing food , very tasteful! A cozy place with nice people. The cocktails were a bit pricy but still affordable and very tasteful, so sad that the glass is so small.. The best part was definitely the FOOD. Huge plates fool of ingredients of quality and nicely selected. A excellent overall for this place that I would recommend to a friend."
