"First and foremost, our server, Mia, was a joy. She knows her food, gave detailed descriptions of things, made spot-on recommendations, and had us giggling. She's rare, and was alone worth the visit. And wow, the food truly stood out. Didn't expect that. We went for oysters, which were fresh and perfect (3 kinds, we got the Samish pearls . But the mushroom risotto slayed me. Really fresh and bright with multiple mushroom varieties and textures. Flavorful, light sauce, and not at all cheesy or gluey. The eggplant dish with soba noodles was also haunting. Lots of flavors and textures in a savory sauce (my wife drizzled some over her salmon . The eggplant was tender and sweet, and I didn't even notice the skin. Lots of other veg in the dish, and with the rich soba and add-on smoked and grilled tempeh, which brought its own flavor and texture to the party, my mouth was in heaven.
