"I’ve had a TON of Ethiopian food across the US. This is literally my favorite spot and I genuinely believe should be a Michelin start resto based on food quality. Ask if chef Elsa is cooking if it’s your first time. I’m moving soon and so so sad to leave Selam. Have eaten it 1-2x a week the last 2.5 years and I live 30 mins away. No joke. Also, they’re really good people. If they accidentally misunderstand your order, just tell them and they’ll make it right. They haven’t raised prices since I started going. They are so consistent with quality and quantity. I’ve actually never eaten at the restaurant so this is just for takeout.Gluten free injera is a big plus for me as well!"

"For $11 on Sundays you can get an all vegan buffet with lots of vegetables and lentils. Clean inside with good lighting. Uses high amounts of oil in some dishes, strong smell when inside. Updated from previous review on 2019-04-14"

"Cute little Ethiopian restaurant, clean inside and outside. Their food is very good, they have plenty of meat and veggie dishes. I frequent dine at Abesha Restaurant and I recommend it highly. Cheers."

"that was a favor when I lived in the neighbourhood. I have tried other Ethiopian restaurants since deducting, but this is still my favorite and close enough to my current situation to get easy. The Injera bread is correct, not too sour as some other restaurants are. the personal is friendly, attentive, but remains low key, in the background, and inconspicuous. eating is very authentic. I always have the Ethiopian spiced tee and share a combination plate. we had more people this time so we decided to have an additional fish dish of fried Tilapia cracks. it was a good choice! we went on Wednesday, so it was pretty quiet. I have seen it at weeks, but it is always pleasant atmosphere."

"I have been coming here for 4 years. I bring friends w me and buy for family as well. I moved to Baltimore but still drive 45 mins to patronize this small business. Today the service . The lady at the front was so rude. It was horrible and the portions were soooo small. I will go to dukem in Baltimore for now on you will not have my support and will tell everyone how I was treated Service: Take out"

"Excellent food! Always consistent. One of our favorite restaurants ! Flavors are amazing. Just be aware that they charge a service charge on your bill which is the tip. Dont tip on top of the service charge."

"Food was quite good and service was good enough. The major concern was the fact that there was a mf bottle cap in our dish ! Not sanitary. I don 't enjoy giving bad reviews but they need to take more precaution because trust me, this was not appetizing... On top of that, when we notified the worker, he reached with his bare hand in to grab the bottle cap and remove it, saying sorry . Sorry for the bad review but I had to bring this to attention"

"Absolutely awful. The waitresses in their that evening didnât care about anything wouldnt deliver the drinks. Gave one person there food 20 minutes before the other food came out. Food was ice cold. We had to keep asking for the check over and over again. Worst experience in Richmond Iâve ever had by far."

"I only had a chance to try the Ethiopian coffee, but it was delicious with a hint of cinnamon. I recognized the owner immediately upon walking in as she has owned the original Fasika Restaurant in Somerville for what seems like decades and I have visited her other restaurant many times over the years. This is a small shop with a handful of tables. If I am back in the area, I will definitely try their food as Ethiopian is one of my favorite cuisines. I don't expect I would leave disappointed given their Somerville location is one of my favorites."

"If you want to try Ethiopian food for the first time, you should definitely go to this authentic restaurant. I had never tried Ethiopian food and I was so glad to try here for the first time. I came here with my sister and her husband and I kid you not, we fell head over heels in love with the food! It was so good and flavourful!! The ambience was just perfect. The service was good and the prices according to me were reasonable. Overall it was a pleasant experience and also totally worth it!"

"I am glad I went so I can cross it off my list of places to go. Gojjo made Philadelphia magazines 30 cheesesteaks. The first thing I didn't like is the price I paid was at least $2 higher than when I saw online. It wasn't a horrible cheesesteak and it did come with a couple french fries. I guess the seasoning makes it Ethiopian. I guess $7 for a draft isn't bad in the city. It wasn't a horrible overall experience."

"We hunted an Ethiopian food and Selam didn't disappoint. This is a large and bright restaurant with many tables for big parties. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We ordered the Selam Meat and Veggie combination and it was finger licking well. This court is good for 2 people, maybe more. It was a mixture of spicy and mild objects. The restaurant has a full bar and a professional coffee machine. Ethiopian beer is available. I tried St. George and it was good. Great discovery!"

"1st time trying this place. Simple place with simple decor, but amazing food. Had the meat combo platter and was VERY happy eating this. I loved everything about this. Flavors was big, but not overwhelming. The platter came (with 3 different meats lamb, chicken, and beef) and a veggie greens side along with a nice tangy salad which compliments the flavors. There was injera under the food, as well as some rolls for eating. The lady running the place I presume is the owner, is extremely nice and friendly. I’ll be back for sure, and I’m sure this will become one of my favorites!"

"We blindly chose Abyssinia because it was the only restaurant that had availability on OpenTable during the Rochester Jazz Festival. It is located in a dated strip mall, so we were a little skeptical as we drove up. We walked in the find it very empty which also made us nervous. There was only one woman hosting and serving, which was enough to cover the volume of customers. The menu was very nice and had many options. We started with an order of vegetable sambusas, which were like triangular egg rolls…can’t go wrong with fried crispy treats! We also got a bottle of Tej (honey wine) which is a traditional Ethiopian beverage but this was bottled on Seneca Lake…further reducing any skepticism. Very sweet, but helps with the spiciness of some of the food too. For the main dish, I chose the Abyssinia Special III that allowed me to sample several different options including beef, lamb and chicken because it was so hard to choose. It also came with small sides of salad and lentils. My wife ordered the Kik Alicha which was yellow split peas along with the same sides I had. Overall it was a great meal. Not very fancy and very quiet. They seem to get more takeout orders than dining in. Definitely worth a try."
