"The last time I came here with my family was before the pandemic. This was one of our go-to sushi places and the food was very good then. Fast forward to now... I 'm not really sure what happened to Shoboo, but there 's so many areas that need a lot of improvement. The servers were friendly, but I felt that they were super disorganized. They were mixing up our orders (though to be fair, we were a large party split into two tables . However, the server could not even identify which sushi was which, and we got very confused in the end. The server even said that apparently the sushi chef likes to mix things up by making the sushi rolls look different, which made us even more confused. They told us that they were behind on orders in the kitchen (most likely from their online orders . We asked for 4 orders of takoyaki--two came before the sushi and the other two came right after we finished all the sushi. It was very disorganized and slow. They had a lot of servers, but they were basically just standing their waiting for their chefs to finish the food. I honestly felt bad for the servers, but at the same time, they should really study their menu. The food here was okay during our recent visit, but most of the rolls were doused in sauce. The fish did not seem that fresh. Overall, a disappointing visit. I hope that Shoboo sees all the feedback here (lots of one-stars from the recent reviews! and fix what needs to be fixed."

"Nestled in the heart of the lively Hillcrest neighbourhood, this restaurant has quickly become my go-to spot for a fiesta of flavours and a delightful dining experience. The first thing that strikes you upon arrival is the charming outdoor covered seating area. Decked out in vibrant colours and adorned with traditional Mexican decorations, this cosy space truly sets the stage for a memorable meal. Whether it's a sunny afternoon or a breezy evening, the atmosphere here is always inviting and perfect for enjoying the fantastic San Diego weather. One of the most appealing aspects of Huapangos is its dog-friendly policy. As a pet owner, I couldn't be happier to find a restaurant that welcomes my four-legged friend as warmly as they welcome me. It's heart-warming to see fellow diners enjoying the company of their furry companions while savouring the delectable dishes. Now, let's talk about the main star of the show – the food! Huapangos excels in serving up truly delicious and authentic Mexican fare. From the first bite to the last, every dish bursts with rich flavours and impeccable seasoning. Whether you're a fan of traditional favourites like tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, or you're eager to try something new like their signature Huapangos platter, you won't be disappointed. The menu boasts an impressive variety, accommodating both meat lovers and vegetarians alike. What I appreciate the most is the restaurant's commitment to being budget-friendly. Amidst the rising costs of dining out, Huapangos offers an extensive array of mouth-watering dishes without breaking the bank. It's a refreshing change to enjoy high-quality Mexican cuisine without compromising on taste or draining your wallet. While Huapangos undoubtedly impresses in many aspects, I must acknowledge that the service has room for improvement. During peak hours, the staff can get overwhelmed, resulting in slower service than one might desire. However, it's worth noting that the warm and friendly attitudes of the servers make up for the occasional wait.In conclusion, Huapangos in Hillcrest, San Diego, is a must-visit destination for all Mexican food enthusiasts. With its lively outdoor covered seating area, pet-friendly ambiance, budget-friendly menu, and truly scrumptious dishes, it's no wonder the locals keep flocking to this hidden gem. So, if you're craving an authentic Mexican fiesta without the need for a passport, head over to Huapangos and prepare yourself for a culinary adventure that will leave your taste buds dancing with delight!"

"This place has gone downhillThe place is dirty to begin with. you could never see out the windows if you wanted to. You would have to first move the blinds that stay closed and are gross themselves. The ceiling in this establishment is coming down. The building itself from the inside is falling apart and needs more than some TLC. Their crushed ice machine is broke, which I find to be a pretty big deal for a margarita place. The food left a lot to be desired. A lot of it you could tell was pre-cooked including the meat that was hard. we ordered two meals the total $24 and my husband got a margarita that took the bill to $42. I am not complaining about the price but feel instead we were overcharged. My husband's food was brought out well before mine was so if we wanted to eat together we couldn't. I don't ever really post reviews unless they are excellent but this place blew my mind. We used to frequent here when it was Salsitas and the change of name or ownership is obvious. Our first indication should have been the empty parking lot and restaurant as well as the waitresses sitting at the bar when we walked in. there was an obvious language barrier also to the extent the waitress could not understand what I was asking for and just responded with yes but didn't bring the items. I have not had a horrible dining experience in quite some time but this one took the cake. After two bites the food was packaged up and came home to the trash. On the upside my husband's dish was better than mine.needless to say I am surprised the health department hasn't shut this place down."
