"This a completely vegetarian Indian restaurant ironicly right next to a meat shop and deli. My husband and I live two hours from Woodlands but it 's more than worth the travel and gas. The food is like magic and we moan with pleasure and grin like idiots while eating. The Kofta, which are spiced potato 'meatballs ' in a tomato curry sauce sprinkled with fresh parsley and cilantro, are so marvelous the English language suddenly seems clumsy and incompetent and falls hopelessly short. The samosas are applause worthy, they are potatoes, peas, coriander, and turmeric in a deep fried triangular pastry served with chili-tamarind sauce. The coconut rice is over priced but still very hard not to get and we 're always trying to figure out what the little balls in it are. They don 't taste like peppercorns but they are about that size, whatever they are they 're good. The waiter seems deeply depressed and never smiles but is not rude. The restaurant is relatively small and cute and always has lovely Indian music playing. The menu is a very good size and the portions are generous but not ridiculous. Even the fried food is never greasy and you always feel good when you leave. It 's mostly Indian people eating here so that tells me it 's probably pretty authentic cooking. It 's not vegan friendly, there 's only about two dishes without dairy but that is what Indian food is known for. I introduced my husband to this place and he 'd never tried Indian food before, but now this is where he demands to be brought every year for his birthday. Even my four year old loves it! Can 't say enough good things about this place. It had better always stay in business."

"We had some great food but the portion vs cost was way off. Also, i ordered online and they were supposed to text when it was ready. I never got a text so I went in and it must have been sitting on the bar for a while because everything was cold. I was surprised at how small the portions were. 1 order of naan for $5.50 was two tiny/mini naans. Same with samosas…$7 for three tiny ones that added together might make up one regular sized one. $14 Chana masala was a cup of rice and two cups of beans/sauce. Definitely not a value for what you get but at least it’s all vegetarian and tasted good. I’m still hungry! Any other Indian restaurant I would have had food leftover for lunch the next day and paid quite a bit less."

"Lately, the quality of food service that you get from this place is going down hill. We ordered chicken dish for take out once got back home realized that it was replaced with vegetarian dish. When called back to ask if this can changed, the guy at the counter suggested that the dish we got is pricier than the dish we ordered(as if that changes the dish from vegetarian to chicken). This place used to be my go to, since last 10-12 years, but the service needs to be updated with latest changes. A lot of new restaurants are giving better service than this location, better move on to next restaurant."

"The restaurant serves delicious authentic South Indian cuisine. The idli and dosa varieties are incredible. We highly recommend trying the special peanut khara dosa. The sambar and chutney are also very tasty. The pongal was just okay, lacking a little bit of flavor. The filter coffee is a must-try, but it's best to visit during non-peak hours due to limited seating. We suggest ordering take-out and enjoying the food at home."

"We visited Dakshin tired from Resort Essen and were immediately hacked. The fluffy Kerala style porotta and chicken chettinad were so good that we ended the Junk resort food completely ditching. Although we were there on Friday/Ostwochenende 2019, Jenny and Sam helped us take care of us during our visit. Her fish Bestichathu was also cooked brilliantly with the spices that penetrate all the way inward! Brilliant South Indian Restaurant visiting Orlando."
