"**The Good**: The appetizers were enjoyable. I had the tamale filled with barbacoa beef, which was a tender and flavorful beef stew wrapped in corn dough. My wife ordered the tilapia, and it was nicely cooked and moist.
**The Mediocre**: Instead of offering complimentary chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants do, they charged for chips served with three different sauces. Only one, the creamy chipotle, was truly noteworthy. The guacamole appetizer, enhanced with pecans, was quite good. Unfortunately, my wife couldn't drink her margarita, and I agreed it wasn't palatable, so we sent it back—something we've never done before. There was just something off about their special margarita mix. We replaced it with a standard Bloody Mary, which was much better.
I ordered a shot of lower-shelf tequila, as I find aged tequila too dull for my taste, but I was mistakenly charged for añejo. I already have a couple of bottles of that at home. We left feeling overly full, but considering the price, it felt a bit steep for what we received."
