"June 9, 2018 We recently visited an upscale Italian restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and settled to visit an establishment called Buca di beppo in Sacramento, after reading some reviews online. This is a family style Italian restaurant, and on line reviews also looked good. As such, we trekked a distance to Buca di beppo for our special dinner. Having patronized many restaurants in the past, when we walked into the doors of Buca di beppo, we were deeply impressed of its grand welcoming by delightful staff members (Noah and Brendan) and its impressive and elaborate decor throughout the entire restaurant. It was like walking through Planet Hollywood seeing all kinds of memorabilia throughout. We even had the chance to meet the assist. G.M. manager, Scott Sagerdahl, who was truly the bomb! Scott was down to earth and personable, and even took time from his busy schedule to give us a personal tour of the restaurant. Everywhere we went, we were in awe, looking at old pictures and things on display. Buca di beppo is not only fancy; it's nostalgic, it's a museum, it's a monument of history, it's heart warming. Scott even told some stories of customers who came in and noticed pictures they were in, taken many decades ago, and even a military vet who broke down in tears after noticing an old army photo of him (AP) and his buddies in the service, where he is the only survivor today. These are powerful nostalgic memories. Overall, I can best say that Buca di beppo is not only an upscale Italian restaurant, it is an experience in its own category. We ordered our meal with the guidance of our server, Anna. Anna was wonderful and guided us through the ordering process and gave us recommendations. Needless to say, the service was great and the meal was terrific. Another unique part of our tour, was, that we were pointed out that we can choose and sit at a special table located in the kitchen of the restaurant. That is so cool, where we can enjoy our meal in a nice table and experience the ins and outs of the kitchen operation. Never seen anything like this before. Truly unique. Buca di beppo is a must visit for anyone who enjoys great Italian food, with a twist. Words and pictures are simply not enough to describe the ambiance of the restaurant. Like what they say, words can only say so much, and pictures can only show so much. But to actually gain a feel of the place, one must come and visit Buca di beppo and personally experience the grandness of this restaurant operation. Even Gordon Ramsey would be so impressed by Buca di beppo, so professionally managed by assist. G.M. Scott Sagerdahl; whom you can see the amount of passion he exhibits on running this wonderful restaurant. Bon Appetite!"

"We love to take family and friends from the city here and also like to dine here for special occasions. We had family come from the state and made reservations to take them here on the past Father's Day. Unfortunately, our experience of this visit was unfavourable. Although we had 6 reservations, it took some time to take place, although most of the main kitchen was surprisingly empty. We're not sure why we didn't sit in this main area, we felt like they wanted to keep us away from it. They sat at a table in a large room behind the restaurant between the bar area and the outdoor area, which seemed like a storage area that had no decoration or ambience, like the main room. We were the only party here for our entire stay. Servers and employees pass our table several times and it wasn't confirmed by 20 minutes later. Unfortunately, it was irresistible when the server seemed to wait on our table. She said something about the effect: “I guess I will wait in you....” We are not a demanding group of people, we waited patiently and politely, so their behaviour and attitude towards us was unprecedented. She was rude, and she'd put things on the table. I understand the restaurants are understaffed and sensitive to it, but it wasn't as busy as it should have been for Father's Day, nor was it inappropriate for us when we were polite and not inappropriate enquiries (we asked for a glass of water to fill in and she came back, muddled a pitcher water on the location and went away). What annoying is that my father died in May and my sister, who was with me, went through his things and later spread his ashes this week. I brought us to this nice restaurant to celebrate my father's last day with my family, but the service that night was unacceptable and unproven and made me embarrassing and angry. It was a terrible experience that I did not return."
