"Don’t judge a restaurant by its location. It is only out of necessity that I would venture out to Takoma Park, especially for good cuisine, when there’s plenty to enjoy in the District. Over the years, I’ve tried Republic and I wasn’t really that impressed. But on my recent visit to TPK, we checked out Republic again, keeping an open mind that perhaps they’ve gotten better. Well, they have! I only went for happy hour and the plates we ordered were delicious. We had fish tacos, pork bao, Aperol Spritz, and a margarita. I looked over to the other diners at the bar area and their foods looked amazing, too. I do like that this place has an outdoor patio that is dog-friendly. The service is good enough, but I agree with other reviewers, it could be better. I’ll definitely try this place again when I’m in TPK."
