"Our family has been coming here since they opened. The crew and owner are always so friendly, the owner also works this place day and night. We have made our way around the menu, the food is always fresh, we have never had a bad meal. You just can 't go wrong whether you order sushi, bibimbop or ramen you will not be disappointed. Never had bibimbop? Don 't be scared cause you 're losing out! There is a homemade sauce that comes with it on the side....this dish cannot be beat and we cannot find a close 2nd...city or burbs!! This place is a once a weeker for us and sometimes twice, lol. Anyway, stop thinking about it and just give this place a chance. There is easy parking in the garage nearby, half the time it is free, if not it costs $3-$5. Please, let 's keep in mind staffing is TOUGH to come by these days, so let 's appreciate the people willing to see it through! Steve, Milan and Sulan are the most current team members that make you feel like a neighbor. Way to go peeps, 100%, 100% of the time! L O V E this place!"

"Been here twice and I'd give it 3.5 stars. The service is great and the people are friendly, and prices are decent. Besides miso soup, I have only ordered nigiri here. The miso soup always comes out piping hot I love it. The nigiri is made with generous cuts of fish, but there is way too much rice so it's not a good balance. Sometimes there is also too much wasabi added which takes away from the flavor of the fish. A memorable choice was the Japanese scallop it had too much wasabi and a lot of salt sprinkled on top. Can't forget that horrid salty taste in my mouth paired with my nostrils burning from the wasabi haha. Overall, not my spot for sushi but I'm glad I tried this place out more than once."

"We had planned to dine in but the restaurant was so loud. There was a large table with people laughing at the top of their lungs! We wanted a nice dining experience but just couldn’t dine in. The take out order was packed nicely and the food was delicious!"

"the service was pretty good. I arrived a little late to join my party. they were already sitting and served drinks. I was not offered to order a drink and had to ask for water. the waitress was quite free what I appreciate, but was available when she was called. we had sushi/sashimi and mijo suppe for appetizer. eating was just okay and a bit on the pricier side. they had cool Japanese rooms in which they pulled out their shoes and sit around a low table. we didn't eat on these tables, but they looked like really nice experience."

"Great food, fast and friendly service. Really loved this place. The waitress,xi don't recall her name, did an excellent job serving us. Others that worked in the restaurant also helped take care of us. We felt very taken care of! The only thing I can recommend is that the floor be cleaned better and have more attention. My shoes were sticking to the floor as I walked to my raffle and upon or exit.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu. My son had the salmon and loved it.Parking: Parking in this area with a large vehicle is horrific."

"When I say I love sushi...I love sushi! Atmosphere: very clean and bright. most people get pick up from this spot, not many will sit and eat. Attire: casual, no special attire required. Most people get take out from here so you can probably wear your bikini and a cover up if you really wanted to as Wollaston beach isn 't too far from here. Food: Great sushi at a great price point. They also have many combos to choose from which all come with a nice drink. Many different maki combinations, in my opinion I prefer the simpler rolls as the more extravagant rolls end up all tasting the same after a while...if its not the spicy mayo taste..its eel sauce. But with that being said, the extravagant rolls are just as delicious as the simple rolls. My friends really like the crab ragoons here. I thought it was very sweet from what I normally expect from a crab ragoon , but after my second one in I couldn 't stop eating them either. Location: Right on Hancock street of Quincy surrounded by many other great food spots. Its easy to get through by bus as there is a bus stop right in front of it. But if you 're not a bus type of person like myself, the red line train stop is not too far of a walk. Price: Great price point for the sushi. Everything was very decently priced, but if you really want a bang for your buck , get a combo. They come with three rolls and a drink! Parking: street parking, which is usually easy to find, but on busy days like Saturday or a Friday night you may have a little more trouble. All the streets around it are free parking so even if you have to walk a tad its not bad. As someone that hates looking for parking, its not terrible. Overall: I like this place for a quick and easy sushi lunch or dinner. The sushi was overall fresh and the place looked clean which is a plus. I use to go here a lot for sushi because its a great price point and if youre looking for decently priced sushi then this is your spot."

"Slow the day/time we were there (Sunday 4PM), but seems like a cool place that would be busy most weeknights. Great sushi and sashimi. Good options for maki as well. And the miso soup hit the spot, recovering from a few too many beers the day before. Server was maybe distracted/bored because we added to our order and she showed up with the wrong thing, twice. But the bill was accurate and it didn't take long to correct the order. Worth going again when it may be a bit more lively to really test ambiance (clean and hip seeming, but add ppl and we'll see)."
Lunch
"My aunt and I had lunch at the Happy Sumo yesterday. My dad and uncle had lunch there the day before and recommended it to me, so I thought it was going to be good. I ordered the seafood tempura(15$ , my aunt ordered the samurai steak(19$ . Both did have good flavor, but were overpriced. No miso soup or salad was offered. I got a small ice cream scoop sized serving of rice on my plate, so I ordered more rice. Extra bowl of rice 3 dollars! My dad had ordered the same thing the day before, but he received rice in a bowl and salad. Two people for lunch cost over 50 dollars. You can get the SAME FOOD for 20 bucks at Tokyo Teriyaki. If you want high end japanese food you should check out Domo in downtown. The Happy Sumo is not a real japanese restaurant. Written by a real japanese male."

"They list NO WHERE THAT THEY ARE BYOB!!!!! Since my companion cannot walk get something and I had to as a lone female in an area and did not know it was unsettling. Waiter was unapologetic and even sent me to a wrong store! We had Uber ‘d there so I had to walk. NO, not an alcoholic but like wine with a dinner meal with friends!"

"I used to like this place (and its menu) very much. Not anymore! I'm not sure what happened during the pandemic and after, but it is not the nice, cozy spot with the food I loved. I hope the sushi and maki still taste the way they did two years ago, but I aimed at Tom Yum soup and the shrimp Pad Thai. Both happen to be extremely disappointing. The soup I ate at the restaurant while waiting for the Pad Tai. It was spicy and watery, with 2 (or three) little shrimps, few pieces of cut mushrooms, and tons of diced (raw) tomatoes. I cannot complain about the four tiny (but tasty) egg rolls. The second course, I tried at home. I mean, my husband did. I couldn't believe that what I received was the old, tasty Pad Thai... There were no noodles (only a cooked white rice on a side, no eggs, no well known veggies usually added to the dish... I couldn't believe my eyes! Really. Awful disappointment and waste of time and money. Never again will I visit the place! I didn't even care to complain or return the dish. I just wanted to get over my disappointment and rage far away from Ruk at home."

"So this review is mixed. First off the service was really good. The waiter was attentive and friendly. The Food was also pretty good. The day of the week was a Friday and we ate here for lunch. Now you may wonder why I'm giving it 2 stars. Well I used a credit card that I normally never use. It was a relatively new credit card and decided to utilize it at the restaurant. I handed it to the waiter and he took it to the back and returned with a Receipt. I gave him a good tip and went on my way. 4 days later I got a notification on my phone that was card was used 3 times and the bank needed verification for the purchases. Without going in to much detail the card number was entered manually to purchase items at a store, a Hotel and a restaurant. All locally within a 20 mile radius as well. I notified the bank and cancelled the card. Needless to say I was never charged for those illegal transactions. At the end of the day I'm about 99% sure those transactions were associated with someone from that restaurant. So beware if you decide to swipe when eating here. I'll never use a credit card there again. Cash only."

"This place is the best sushi restaurant in Albany Ca... Where do I start? Let's start with the owner Tommy, this guy is amazing. The sushi is the best sushi I had in a very long time. Every time I'm in Northern Cal for work, this is the place where I'll be all the time. Thanks to everyone who works for making this place such a gem."
