"I am updating my review as the restaurant requested more details. I am giving this chain restaurant 2 stars because I believe it is fair to rate chain restaurants one star. I was very disappointed with my experience. We used to frequent this establishment when it was Max's Diner, and also visited about 3-4 years ago when my children were younger. The food was extremely greasy and lacked flavor, aside from the taste of burnt oil. My eldest daughter ordered the bacon dippers, but the bacon was so greasy that the pancake batter wouldn't cling to it, causing her to leave her meal unfinished. My younger daughter ordered the twisted melt, and there was a pool of oil surrounding the chicken tender...

The service was excellent and the food was amazing with very generous portions. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this restaurant to my friends!

This restaurant has inconsistent quality. I revisit this review regularly to provide updated feedback. There are times when the food is really delicious, but other times it can be just average. During my last visit, I tried the avocado toast with eggs only. The unsweetened iced tea is always delicious. Review last updated on May 17, 2023.

There were a few clearly labeled options on the menu, including a delicious skillet dish (consisting of a burger with peppers, mushrooms, onions, and spinach) and a scrambled egg dish with peppers and tomatoes. We decided to order both dishes and mix them together, resulting in a very tasty meal. However, when trying to customize our meals with certain sides, we were informed that everything was cooked in butter, so be mindful of that if you have specific dietary restrictions.

"we've been here before and loved it. this time when there was a big mistake on our meal, we couldn't get it for a ridiculously long time. they collect our meal to another table, and it was only when we asked what was going on on what happened. even wait too long! sometimes an apology is not enough. (which we have received from some different people) acts speak louder than words. a “we give them a drink in the house while we fix the problem” or any gesture would have been great to fix our frustration and make us feel a bit of this disney magie. had happened in the past! so the experience this time was less than satisfactory, unfortunately."

"I enjoy The Boathouse, the food here is usually pretty good, but today the service was just abysmal. First off, usually on a quiet day, you can just walk up and usually be seated relatively quickly. But not today, the line just to talk to someone, RESERVATION OR NOT was about 15-20 minutes, with a line out of the door. This line alone should have been a sign to cut my losses and just leave, but instead I persisted giving The Boathouse the benefit of the doubt. I waited and waited some more, just to be told at the front desk that my 1 PM reservation was not ready yet and that they were still trying to seat people with 12:15/12:30 reservations. NOTE: I didn 't get to the desk until around 1:20/1:30 PM, so already about an hour behind. I was told that I will get a text when my table would be ready, I was fed up with waiting so I left. What 's the point in having a reservation if one, I have to wait in a line with people who don 't have a reservation and two have to wait even longer for my table to be ready well after my reservation time? It very much defeats the purpose of having a reservation, especially with the Disney app that can let you at some restaurants check in without having to talk to someone? On top of this, why was there no communication from the restaurant beforehand or while I was waiting in a long line to let me know hey we 're not going to be able to seat you at the time that we promised . All of this to say, Disney gets very busy, there are some issues from both a communication and operations standpoint that should definitely be looked at. All that had to be done to make today a little bit better was literally someone from the restaurant coming out and saying something along the lines If you don 't have a reservation, your estimated wait time will probably be around x hours AND OR If you have a reservation, we might not get to you at your reservation time just simple things to show that you care about your guest 's time. Maybe consider relying more on the app or having a separate area for those with reservations or without? Either way, super disappointed and it 's not fair to the frontline staff that were not being treated nicely by those who were understandably upset, that should be dealt with by management."

"Our server, Newman, was great. He was friendly and supervised about the quality of food and service provided. He regularly reviewed us and even made friendly talks about the neighborhood. We are new residents in the area and he provided some great tips. We will be back and we will ask to sit in his section. Thank you."
