"After a cold morning of the walk around Bamberg we were ready for a hearty lunch. We came to this restaurant in large part to get the local specialty smoke beer. There were many seats, even during lunchtime. Our ducks were goulash and cheese spetlze. Both were delicious and the portions were very large and filled. In combination with the smoked beer and in the picturesque interior we had an unforgettable meal."

On recommendation of a friend and a brewer. Good good beers and very popular at tables well book in advance. Not the largest place and in winter you can just walk right past as you would never know, summer and sitting outside would attract the crowds. Cosy on a cold day and great service with great beer.

The Klosterbrau is an old brewery, and the story goes back to 1533, making it the oldest in Bamberg. Kovid-19 measures limit the number of seats, but we have a nice place in the beer garden with a great view of the river. The food is regional and very good, and the beer is excellent. On a sunny day this is a popular place to go, but despite a busy day we had very good service.
