"I want to make it clear that the service here is exemplary. I have never had a complaint from my family about anybody that works there. (Same goes for the old crew that worked there before new owner... The service here is consistently fantastic.)And the atmosphere is also really nice, very welcoming, charming, comfortable. It's got that cozy tavern/ pub feel at the bar. The rest of the place is very clean and the temperature is usually very comfortable in there (and on nice spring or fall days it's great when they open the big garage door... And there is outside dining in the back as well) and they have some really amazing historical art all over the walls. If you go when it's not busy, I would encourage you to take a look around at everything they have on display, most of it directly related to the history of Shamokin and this area. What a wonderful thing to preserve all that and share it with customers the way they do.When the owner is there, he takes the time to talk to his customers and he's very amicable and accommodating. Now here's my complaint and the reason I don't go anymore... When this new owner took over, he changed the menu. And I know it's common for new management to do this in restaurants and I was ok with trying all the new stuff. I am mostly vegetarian but I do eat seafood, so it's easy to work with my dietary limits. Their salmon is VERY good. The problem is, they took away one of the most popular menu items and so far it looks like they have no intentions of bringing it back the HARVEST BOWLS.Literally the very reason I went back to Heritage over and over and over, even getting takeout many times, was to get the harvest bowl with salmon, asparagus, and Brussels sprouts. It was such an original plate with an absolutely amazing flavor. You don't see it anywhere else around here. It was fantastic for a vegetarian option too, because of course you could omit the meat part but still have an amazing amount of delicious food, if you are a vegetarian that doesn't eat seafood.I've asked everytime I've been in there if/ when the harvest bowls will be back on the menu, and I'm told everytime it's gone and won't be coming back... therefore, I myself am not coming back. It's a huge disappointment, especially for my family, because my sons husband love it there as well. They also took away the mac cheese dish, which was a popular choice before, and another great vegetarian option if you eat dairy. While it is still a very nice spot to stop for a drink and/ or appetizer, and I would of course go for that, we won't be coming in anymore for full meals. The only remedy for us is if they brought the harvest bowls back or if they offered a lot more vegetarian options that are loaded with asparagus and Brussels sprouts that taste even more incredible than the harvest bowls were. So far I haven't seen anything that would indicate that's going to happen so I'm not holding my breath. Just super sad to know that I'll never have another delicious harvest bowl again. In summary, if you are a meat eater you will definitely find delicious options here. But if your friends or partner are vegetarian, not so much. You most certainly will not be disappointed with the service regardless. One more note that's important to be aware of make sure you put money in the meter if you go for lunch. The town does indeed ticket those who don't feed the meters."

"To anyone coming in from out of area, you have to remember that anything below 4.8 stars on Google maps for our area is like a 2.7 (MAX) anywhere else in the country. We ain’t exactly a Mecca for culture and cuisine. Do not be fooled by the high rating. I got invited along for dinner with my parents. For the fifth time in a row, I begged them not to come here because it’s so terrible every single time. But they only get the “bug“ to eat out maybe once every 4 to 6 weeks. After a long stressful day, I can’t really blame them for not wanting to drive 30-40 minutes each way for a nice night out. So we endured. Every time we go it’s the same song and dance: get back in the car and they say “and that’s why we never go out!” I would never spend my money here: but they were buying, and I can’t say no to free food. We were there for 1 hour and 40 minutes, mostly waiting on things to show up. It was a Friday night and the number of occupied tables in the dining area never exceeded 8 (out of at least 25 tables). This alone should be a huge red flag to the owner that something is drastically wrong and it’s time to reboot your business plan. Just got appetizers and drinks. My mom’s drink didnt show after 20 minutes, so she cancelled it. On the most recent trip, we got all fried appetizers, so it’s really hard to mess up. Most of them came warm. But they took forever. The pierogies were not done yet, they came 17 minutes after everything else, and they were ice cold upon arrival. The last time I came here though I ordered French onion soup. The cheese had been burned to ashes by the broiler. The server sat it in front of me and said ‘if that’s too done I can send it back’. I put the spoon through the cheese and all the ashes fell into the soup. I took a spoonful and it tasted like muddy water: the flavor completely overtaken by the ashes that had dissolved in it. I had to send it back: and when a local radio station had a call in chat about ‘what you do when a restaurant messes up your order’ I called in and told them all about it. Yesterday was the third time we had that same server that is quick to tell you that things are not their fault, yet they don’t follow up on the kitchen (cold fried appetizers 2 out of 3 last trips with them) and they never push back when the kitchen serves something that they wouldn’t feed their dog. How is this serving worthy of employment let alone gratuity? Spoiler alert: my pushover parents still tipped 21 percent of the bill despite being totally appalled yet again. We are reasonable people and can see when it’s a kitchen problem, and when it’s a server problem. The past 5 times, it has been both in full force. Though our server and the kitchen definitely weren’t great, the bar staff and the management were absolutely abysmal. The bar staff were chatting with people seated at the bar while eager servers needing drinks at their tables were checking frequently, often leaving empty handed because the bar staff had not poured drinks for their tables. One of the managers we see all the time there is from way back when the same building used to be a restaurant called Bonanza. Out of 6 countries and 32 states that I have been to, Bonanza was the filthiest and most vile cesspool of a restaurant I had ever seen in my entire existence. I think if there’s any chance of Brewser’s ever being a decent place to eat with your family on a Friday night, getting rid of anything having to do with what it used to be is kind of a non negotiable. But the whole place kind of needs an overhaul. Close for a cleaning week, hire new managers, retrain your employees, and give it another go, I guess."
