"If I could I would give this place a 0. Yes we did have a reservation and yes we did make it 6 months in advance and yes it was Christmas Eve. But what was ridiculous was that they sat us right by the bar and door at a folding table. This family who had been waiting before us got there right before us and was super snooty to us and the hostess. They were rude. So we decided to sit and eat downstairs at the restaurant in the lobby which honestly was so much better. The snotty family obviously was seating in the back of Flannel at a great non folding table. What a disappointment.Yes it was Christmas Eve, but we made our reservation 6 months in advance. We get to the restaurant for our reserva...

Breaking fast review I 'll do, for dinner was too full for our purview. So we sat and ate before it got too too late. The eggs were good, the home fries too, the sausages sweet as honey dew. Our server Lynn, pouring coffee for two, had us feeling right at home while we drank the brew. We were early so the crowd was scarce and few as we enjoyed our stay and the breakfast view. Mount Mansfield in the distance seemed to be call 'you-who, ' we knew we would be slipping and sliding down the slopes with no further ado.

Vegan options!!!!!!! I got their butternut squash bisque, the squash and kale salad, and a side of the most DELICIOUS shiitake mushroom quinoa salad with pomegranate seeds in it that was part of their special of the night. Also their rosemary garlic bread is AMAZING they even brought me oil to dip it in. My waitress was extremely helpful and accommodating and also informed me that all of the salads except for the Caesar were vegan. You can also veganize the vegetable risotto by asking for it without cheese and you can also also veganize the tuna dish! This place would have gotten 5 stars if they had a dessert option besides sorbet but overall this was awesome.

"Dining at Edson Hill is clearly meant to be an experience. They certainly charge you for it. At those prices, execution and flavor need to be spot on, and they just ... weren't. Pumpkin soup was so bland and thick, it was like eating flavorless applesauce. Scallops were very good, and cooked nicely, but thrown on top of a pile of spaghetti squash that, again, lacked any flavor. It was clearly squash season, but not a hint of spice or nutmeg. The duck was the highlight of the meal, and the only dish that was executed correctly. Our steak frites was so disappointing. The cut should have been saved for well done, it was not a quality piece of filet, which is the wrong steak for a frites anyways. The fries were perfect and plentiful, but when the fries outshine the steak on a frites plate, that's a problem. For $52 I expect a nice cut. Everything lacked salt and pepper. Dessert was fine, but the cheesecake didn't taste of pumpkin at all, and really didn't taste of cheesecake either, more of a slightly sour mousse cake. All in all, this was a lesson. Take your money to Montreal or the Eastern Townships. They do fine dining better, cheaper, and more casually so you don't have to play along with the stilted service only to be disappointed by the food. Edson Hill is meant for an over 50 crowd who is still more impressed by an obsequious maitre d'hotel than by properly seasoned food."
