"Nice waiter but this google listing is just fully inaccurate and should be taken down. Gohan-ya no longer exists as a restaurant. None of the pictures or reviews here reflect reality, because Gohan-ya has been taken over by Lovely Day which serves tasty Thai food, but disappointing Japanese food on a small side-menu titled Gohan-yaI came here for some Japanese comfort food (the curry that gohan-ya was known for) and was given a runny broth with sichuan peppers and a fork to eat it with. It wasn’t awful but certainly wasn’t what was advertised or something I’d ever order again. Also they only take cash or Amex here"

The food was terrible! It was awful and a complete disaster. It was a culinary nightmare that I would never recommend. The place was also very dirty and smelled like something had died. Additionally, they copied the name of the previous restaurant, "gohan."

I visited Gohan-ya, which is the same restaurant as A Lovely Day, and ordered their salmon dinner with two sides. The meal tasted like something I could easily make at home. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. The only downside was that they only accept American Express or cash, so I had to use the ATM inside the restaurant.
