"Beautiful ambience, beautiful decor. Kumiko is not a bar but an experience in itself. The great service starts as soon as you enter and the staff go above and beyond to serve you. The food here is extremely inauthentic. This place is notoriously hard to get a reservation at, so I was super excited when my husband managed to snag a Saturday night reservation just 2 weeks prior. However we were both utterly disappointed by the food. The drink list was pretty extensive and interesting and contained both alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices. Hands down the best cocktails I’ve had in Chicago. Julia Momosé is an artist and I highly recommend the “Yaki-Imo Old Fashioned”, which I can only describe as a ‘journey’ given there are so many layers and notes to savor. The “Sea Flower” is subtle but fresh and delightful and goes well with all that great caramelized onion jam in the “Maitakedon”.
