"I was visiting my family in San Diego and they wanted to meet up at Pho Ban Mai in Mira Mesa. We usually go to a different Pho place down the road but, to be honest, I wasn’t sure I’d like this place because of the low reviews. I was quite surprised to find I really enjoyed the food here! Pho Ban Mai is nestled within the same plaza where Rite Aid, Boiling Crab and Seafood City are located. It was a little hard to find because the signage wasn’t as visible. We were seated quickly but we had about a dozen family members and we were split into separate tables. Note: This restaurant is not made for large groups; however, the staff were accommodating and made it work. Because of the smaller group seating, the orders were placed by table number. For example, there’s a QR code which launches their menu and you would place your order from there. It’s pretty cool actually. But if you’re someone who does not have a smart phone, you’ll be ordering the traditional way through a server and, from our experience, the language barrier was a challenge. We ended up placing 3 group orders due to our split tables but we were able to ask to pay on one big check. A few things we ordered from our table: Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (Vermicelli with Grilled Pork and Egg Rolls) This is great for sharing. The dish itself is plentiful and you have your carb, protein, and veggies. This came with an egg roll, which is filling on its own. Grilled Pork with Broken Rice This came with a side of pickled veggies and a perfectly rounded scoop of steamed rice. I believe you get the option of fried rice or steamed rice but we opted for the latter. The taste was delicious! Pho #1 House Special Noodle Soup It’s just standard that we order the first pho option whenever we go to a Vietnamese restaurant. The broth had a good flavor and it wasn’t oily. Beef Steak Cubes with Fried Rice and Salad Bo Luc Lac is a family favorite. The beef cubes are always tender and juicy and comes on a sizzling hot plate. It’s perfect served over steamed rice. And the nuoc cham (fish sauce) flavors the dish with a sweet and salty umami. Overall, everyone enjoyed the food. Ordering was a little chaotic but we were able to get that settled quickly. I’m glad we gave this place a shot the ratings are low but I guarantee you, you’d be surprised how good it is here! You won’t know til you try it!"

"Wow! Two weeks later and I 'm still thinking about this meal a couple of times a day, and co-workers have stopped me in the hall to talk about it, as well. I highly recommend this caterer.I ordered a catered breakfast for 100 through a 3rd party. Unfortunately, the middleman was not passing along our messages to each other, so when the food arrived, we were missing an item that I felt was critical. In these situations, I 'm accustomed to receiving a shrug, a sorry, and a small discount. Instead, I received a first-class resolution, with staff standing by and communicating the steps real-time. I was really blown away by the level of service, the professionalism, and the phenomenal attitudes of the staff while dealing with the unexpected hiccup (which was not their error . That alone would lead me to order from them again, but...Holy smokes! The food was incredible, and such a nice change from what is typically available for a breakfast delivery (which is what prompted me to order from Emjaye Inspired to begin with . While we had ordered most items in disposable aluminum trays for a simple work breakfast ahead of an activity, they set it up for me (unexpected! in such a way that it looked so much more inviting than it would have otherwise been. Additionally, fruit, bread, and pastry platters were presented BEAUTIFULLY. It was so much more than I was expecting. Lots of thumbs up and, That was on point! from those present. Melissa contacted me to follow up on the difficulty encountered at delivery (again, a 3rd party snafu , but her staff had handled it so beautifully I didn 't feel any further resolution was needed. It was very professional, courteous, and so appreciated. Definitely use this caterer and DO order through them directly (as I 've learned . These are actual, professional caterers, btw. Though our needs were simple, I can tell by the way they carried themselves, communicated (not just with me, but with each other , and worked that they expertly manage higher-end jobs. I will be giving unsolicited recommendations to everyone I know in need of catering. I 'd like to give a special shout out to the breakfast sausage, the likes of which I have never before encountered! I would leave the life I know to hunker down in isolation as a hermit if I knew I would wake up to this sausage every morning (and based on feedback I think there are others that would do the same! . Turkish eggs were incredible (note that some people really just want scrambled eggs , crepes were amazing, and someone on that team really knows how to pick a good melon."

"So I will preface this review by stating that it is on the scale of Michelin Star rated places. Having been to a couple dozen starred establishments this was one of the more disappointing experiences. The food and the wine pairings were very good but nothing to stood out and was memorable looking back which usually I can remember at least one if not multiple dishes/pairings that stay with me for weeks or months. The atmosphere was okay, a little old money and stuffy but overall fine again nothing to write home about. Where they lost us was the service. At the beginning of the meal they wheel out an impressive Champagne display (huge bucket with mountain of ice and 5 or so bottles sticking out). They ask if you would like to start your meal with some champagne, so of course you say yes no mention of a cost. As the explanations (rare vintages of top of the line brands) of each start you get suspicious so you ask for the cost. Begrudgingly they tell you (300 600+ PER GLASS). You are in it for the experience so you go for it (verdict not worth it). Not sure if the bottles had just been put on ice but the champagne was not cold at all so my wife told them and they eventually made a snide comment (oh you found a way to get more) which I did not hear at the time but was told of afterwards. They eventually refilled the glasses (poured on top of the existing glasses which were 3/4 full fine). Moving on to the meal, there were a couple of add on 's (again presented in a way where they don 't tell you cost unless you ask). I can 't even remember one of them because it was so outrageously priced but I opted for the Wagyu and Truffle add on 's (even despite their significant price). What they don 't tell you is that Wagyu and Truffle are already on the menu (prepared the same way) so basically you paid the significant add on for just more of what you already were getting but with a different dish. All in all, when paying the exorbitant amount starred meals cost in general (Addison being even on the higher end of that) for a meal you would expect service perfection let alone what we got. In general the food was as good as any starred place (although again, nothing stood out or was memorable) but what separates the best starred places (in my mind) is the absolutely top notch service/experience. Addison did not provide that which was disappointing considering their star status. Very similar experience to Alinea in Chicago which seem to have this air of you are lucky to be here due to them having 3 stars (which is wild because the other starred places are just as good quality/inventiveness wise and much better service/experience) and their service/experience reflects that. I would not recommend going to the Addison if you live in the area or are visiting."
