"Apparently the history goes back to the Middle Ages, since in an about 600 years old document a guesthouse was mentioned at this place. Since the locality here is called 'Seeb ', somewhat related to the German word for lake and the restaurant itself 'Hecht ' (thus 'hake ' , there must have once been some water and fishing here around. Now it has all been drained. What strikes one first is the attractive and quite big half-timbered house, in which this eating place is located. There is eating inside in a more traditional looking room, then a 'fumoir ' for smokers, then a newer looking hall, probably for special occasion. In summer naturally everybody will sit outside in the big garden under umbrellas. The place was very busy on that summer evening, when we visited. Most people seemed to be locals, living in the surrounding area and working at the nearby airport, as my friend observed. There was a lady with quite some drive, who was in charge outside, assisted by two less motivated waiters. Among the menu cards was also one with special summer dishes, warm and cold. After a draught beer from Hürlimann we both ordered 'Pangasiusknusperli ' (fried small pieces of fish , which came with a separate tartar sauce plus plenty of salad. From big bowls one could help oneself to the preferred salad dressing (French or Italian . It was all quite basic and good, nothing exquisite. Service is very casual. Sets, paper napkins and cutlery are brought on top of each other to the table to be distributed by oneself. The rosé wine (a 'Santi Infinito ' from Lake Garda was not given to taste, but was put in a cooler. The waitress forgot to give glasses for the mineral water. As dessert we had 'Öpfelchüechli ', fried slices of apple, that had been dipped in batter. They came with a vanilla sauce and an ice cream as well as a small fruit salad. The espresso was from Illy. Going inside I saw a paper, where it said that the actual owners will stop running this place end of this month, thus just the next day. This after 40 years of working here. We saw many regulars, who embraced Hedy, the lady, who was in charge of the service, obviously saying good-bye. For the locals this pub is not called 'Hecht ', but 'Stützli-Füfzg ' (or short just 'Stützli ' after a funny story, when during WWII soldiers stationed here used to come and spend their daily salary (1.50 Swiss Francs , an amount which the then lady in charge, also by the name 'Hedy ', used to call in a downplaying way 'Stützlifüfzg '."
