"Taste is THE place to go in Starkville. The ambiance is amazing, the atmosphere is great the service is impeccable. Do not leave that restaurant without trying one of their handcrafted cocktails! The Raspberry Drop, the Whiskey is Bananas, the Espresso Martini (dessert drink), the Limencello Spritz the El Pepino are my top 5 favorites. You wont be disappointed.. of course there are several more handcrafted cocktails to choose from. For one , the NOLA cocktail comes SMOKED TABLE SIDE! It is a really neat experience gives the drink that smoky taste that you cant get just anywhere. Of course Taste also offers traditional cocktails, martinis, etc., also has lots lots of bottles of wine to choose from! If you dont want a whole bottle, they have wine by the glass, a house wine for each type. Now on to the food. The food is top notch.. if you are with a large group, try the Sampler Platter appetizer. Trust me. If its just 2 or 3 of you, the Fried Ravioli kills. It is delicious. When it comes to making a dinner choice, my favorite Pasta is the Lasagna. Yes, im traditional. However, most people tend to enjoy the Fra Diavolo! It is a little spicy (not too bad) contains shrimp, olives, crab meat, capers, spicy marinara linguine noodles. The Shrimp Gamberetti is also a hit. It contains shrimp, pine nuts, mushrooms, spinach, basil lemon butter (white sauce), angel hair pasta. If you are wanting a pizza, I suggest the Colombo HANDS DOWN. It is a pizza, with SPICY HONEY on top. Need i say more? Entree wise, they make a MEAN Filet. I like mine Medium. They always do a fantastic job cooking the steak to my liking. I also love the Pork Chop, which is wrapped in porsciutto gouda cheese. YUM. While im waiting, i like to enjoy a before dinner salad , or a bowl of soup. Its only $6 to get a salad or a bowl of soup while you wait on your dinner. Its a great deal! Time flies by when you go for the soup or salad. By the time youre done, BOOM there 's your dinner! You can choose Caesar or Italian salad, Tomato Bisque is available everyday , they also have a soup of the day that changes every few days. My favorite soups so far have been the Lobster Bisque, the Broccoli Cheddar Soup. The Tomato Bisque is also fantastic. Once dinner arrives, it 's like a slice of heaven. The food is unbelievably delicious, like i said earlier, i love the vibe Taste gives off. It can be loud, but if it is, its in a good way. Some people are on dates, some celebrating birthdays or anniversaries or graduation or getting a promotion, some catching up with old friends, some families that didnt feel like cooking wanted to spend time together, some kids headed to a formal or a prom, some colleagues having a meeting over a nice dinner, some travelers passing through town, some people.. who cant get enough of Taste! Its a fancy restaurant that accepts all forms of dining. Theres an outdoor patio, the veranda area, a private dining area, the main dining room, the bar. You will love ANY of these dining areas. Each have their own unique qualities their own way of adding to your experience. Mix it up, sit somewhere different now then. Appreciate the ambiance the decorations of this restaurant. People worked hard for YOU to enjoy this! The service as i said is top notch. They are truly professionals... they blow me away every single time. Bravo to whoever taught these ladies gentlemen.. they make the experience complete! I love having meeting different servers each time i come! Okay.. Lastly, dessert. They DO have coffee, espresso, lattes, etc. I like to get an Espresso Martini followed by a cup of black coffee with their Espresso Brownie OR Tiramisu. Occasionally i will throw a scoop of Gelato into the mix. They have 5 to 7 different Gelato flavors. I usually choose Peanut Butter Cup or Sea Salt Caramel. Next time you go to Taste, really take it in. Go all out! Treat yourself. Its more than just a restaurant.. its an experience. it wouldnt run the way it runs without John Ryckert.
