"I liked Dipiu. In fact, it was my favorite restaurant in Bad Krozingen and if you really need to be in this city, it was the place to find good food in a beautiful atmosphere. Well, not if you are black, asian or... other colored for this matter. I had dinner at Dipiu with a friend of mine when the guests at the table began to make racist comments and be very loud about it. The guests in question were most likely drunk and apparently known by the staff (one of them was the wife of a former German president who was confirmed by our waiter). We ignored them at the beginning and then asked to move to another table when it really became unbearable. The waiter agreed and put us on another table. While we changed the table and before the waiter was able to transfer our dishes, the former president's wife actually helped to fill our bottle of water to fill her own glass! My friend mentioned it to the waiter who pretended it didn't happen. It goes without saying that the comments did not stop and we could still hear the loud buffaloes from the dining room. After leaving (the evening did not take pleasantly up to a late hour) and the bill that I confronted an employee and explained that some of his guests actually made racist comments and had an unacceptable behavior. He took it very sincerely and said he couldn't do anything because they were guests. Well, if a German establishment finds it perfectly normal to have insulted certain of its guests, it should not have a problem either to have known this fact to its customers and potential customers. I understand that the staff and management are not responsible for the stupidity of their males. What I find out is how all people working at Dipiu worked, what happened and decided to continue with their business as usual without recognition or intervention. I can only assume that it was because the racist guests were clearly regular locals while I was a black visitor. I have visited many countries and places in the world, including scary German cities such as these, and I do not consider myself very sensitive when it comes to racism because I have often experienced it. But this shameless behavior of racist guests in connection with the attitude of the employees acting like spineless inadequacies is really something to say about this restaurant, some of its customers, its staff, its administration and open the whole small town, if not the country. At least stay away from Dipiu. The food is good, but it is not worth being exposed to its glaucosa."
