"We're from the East Coast, and we wanted to experience a Maid-Rite as part of our Great River Road road trip. We chose this location because it's one of the more old-school locations. For the uninitiated, the original sandwich comes with mustard, onion, and pickle. We got one sandwich with no condiments and one with just mustard and pickle. I thought the mustard overshadowed the seasonings in the beef. Make sure you get a fork--a lot of the meat will spill out of the bun. And save room for pie--we had coconut cream and it was really good. The place is old but clean. The server at the counter was great--very patient with all my questions. This place does not accept credit cards, and there is no tipping."
