"Just off wild, crazy Collins Avenue is this surprising hideaway, tucked into a hotel so close to the madness that is Miami Beach, yet seemingly miles away. Entering the hotel 's reception area, one feels drawn back to the 1950 's, surrounded as well by memorabilia of that era. With a 7:15 p.m. reservation for two, we were somewhat surprised, given our proximity to the host of mediocre dining establishments on Collins and Ocean Drive (yes, there are some fine restaurants along those streets, but many whose survival is a function of having landed leases in those locations), that we were the first guests of the evening (we were ultimately joined by another party of 4 some 30 minutes or so later). This restaurant is not for the masses, however, which includes for us the overly bright dining room, which we would have found more relaxing if the lights were dimmed. We chose to do the tasting menu, as the waiters did an excellent job of explaining the unique preparations and flavors on the menu. While none of the dishes was a 10 , they ranged (in our judgment) from 6.5-9, so were certainly pleasant. One of us also chose the wine pairings, all of which turned out to be white wines, reflecting the dishes chosen; given his love for red wines, he might have liked to sample a red, but the wines served were appropriate for the coursing. The staff was excellent and knowledgeable. Overall, as a well traveled diner, I found this a pleasant meal, not an outstanding one. I would recommend this with reservations ."

"Good Ol Joe's is still pushing the freshest stone crabs with that awesome mustard sauce. It's been years since I've been here but the quality, service, and food are still amaze. We made reservations for our family a couple of weeks prior and upon arrival only took about 15 minutes to be seated. The place was packed with excitement and the bar didn't have an empty seat. We stood in the bar area and servers were still attentive and took drink orders. The bar still has beautiful detailed wood work with a nautical theme. Place still has that old school NY feel. Beautiful dark wood throughout. Staff from the door, host stand, and servers are all impeccable. Everyone always checked on us and teamwork is key here. We looked at the menu's but c'mon, we all know what we want. While we waited we were given complimentary bread and butter. We had conch fritters for the table and mom and I had the Joe's meal which was the perfect option to eat all things drool worthy. Its was the perfect portion of stone crabs, potato, creamed spinach, side of mustard sauce (just give me a spoon) and for dessert, that epic key lime pie. We were full and I was already trying to make another reservation. The crabs were so succulent and my fat a just wanted more. It's time to make another reservation. And shout out to my junior high friend Evan whose been there since highschool. Always sweet to see an old friend. Go check him and the crabs out."

"ROACHES: I visited the Aventura location for the first time nearly two weeks ago. I had a wonderful experience. The store manager actually waited for my arrival as I crawled my way through Miami traffic. I purchased the Cashew 32 oz Coconut Milk, 16 oz Almond Milk with the .50 cent cocoa upcharge and a chocolate, peanut butter smoothie. By reading the reviews and quick scan of the menu, you can tell I spent A LOT of money for a first time buy. At my request the manager packed my items in ice for them to arrive cool in consideration of the return trip ahead of me. The manager told me I should visit the 41st location as it would be closer to me despite their website saying that location was closed. *HERE 'S WHERE THINGS TAKE A TURN FOR THE WORSE*: Yesterday I visited the 41st location and found the staff there to also be extremely warm and welcoming. Very nice folks. I noticed they were hyper concerned with whether or not patrons had paid. I 'm guessing they 've had a problem with theft? IDK, I 've just not seen that a most places especially places that charge a premium for small consumables. Different but who knows. While waiting for a chocolate peanut butter smoothie and 24 oz of the Cashew Coconut milk. While waiting, I noticed the place wasn 't very tidy. It could be the mid day rush. I glanced into an ice cooler about waist height filled with ice bags annnnnndddddd A ROACH. YES, I SAID IT, A ROACH. Medium in size so as we say here in Florida if they 're that size that means mama, daddy, brother, sister and cousins as certainly roaming the area. Whhhhyyyyyyyy did I have to see this?????!!!!! One can 't possibly unsee a ROACH. *NUMBERS DON 'T LIE, A NUMBER OF THE REVIEWERS HAVE STATED THE OWNER IS A PROBLEM* I called the owner this morning and very respectfully complimented his staff, which he graciously accepted, his tasty product but in balance and because it was the primary reason for my call, disclosed THE ROACH. HE WAS TOTALLY UNNERVED LIKE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL. He began telling me the history of Miami (Whhhyyyyy????? My family was one VERY of the first families in Miami! They actually built the causeways). The filth he said was coming from neighboring businesses but further deflected from taking any ownership by saying this is Miami , basically roaches and rats come with the territory so deal with it. He said, the Health Dept already knows . I 'd made no mention of the Health Dept. I asked this narcissist in a very monotone, respectful manner could I bring the unopened product I purchased yesterday from the 41st location where I spotted the roach and have it swapped out for new product from the Aventura location. I was willing to take the drive. THE OWNER 'S RESPONSE? What do you want? You sound very aggressive! I politely reiterated my minimal request and he started back on the Roaches belong in Miami just like everyone else and We 've got a good thing going here tirade so I hung up the phone in the middle of this insane roach advocacy rant. NEVER.GOING.BACK."
