"This would be an excellent restaurant in any city, but it happens in Jefferson, TX. Let me break this. The place: A 1890 house is perfect for a restaurant in this city of Victorian houses. It is very tastefully decorated and minimalist. The dining rooms are smaller as the layout of the old house remains. That makes it intimate. You also have a bar that only provides drinks for diners. Food: The menu is sufficiently creative and includes a variety of proteins and delicious pages. I opened with a goat cheese salad and was not disappointed (each inch of salad was dressed with the sweet Vinaiigrette, but it was still deliciously light). I ordered the trout and my dining room partner had the massive pork chop that was special the night. The house side of the sweet potato puree was world class, and we enjoyed our dishes very much. Prices: Expect what every good restaurant will cost you. Our meal costs about $100 per person, but without the bottle of wine you should be able to keep it to about $75 per person. It is expensive for every day, but really try to celebrate something... or if you want the best meal in the county. The service: The name of our waiter was David, and he was an excellent waiter. He was over every detail all night and he knew the menu very well. He came by at least 4 times during our meal. With staff like David, the service here will be a positive reminder of every dinner. Summary: Keeps the 5 stars, even if compared to top restaurants in the city. Fair prices, great service, food and ambience for a gourmet restaurant. If you are a tourist in Jefferson as we were, you should check it out."
