"This place was an experience. I took my daughter on a college visit at Kent State, and when I told a friend that we were going to be in Kent they said You HAVE to eat at Mike's Place So we headed there for lunch after her campus tour. When we pulled into the parking lot, we weren't sure where to look. Eclectic doesn't even begin to describe the exterior. We parked and went in. The hostess was very friendly. She grabbed two menus and said follow me and took off. We lost her. There are twists and turns everywhere, around the very unique seating areas. We were seated at a table in it's own little alcove that consisted of a huge polished slab of live-edge tree with a bench on one side and two enormous thrones at either end. Broadswords and family crests on the wall, and a half scale suit of armor standing guard next to the table.I had to idea what to expect when I opened the menu, but I wasn't prepared for the dozens upon dozens of choices in front of me. I'm fairly confident that anything I could have wanted, they offered on the menu. All day breakfast, lunch, and dinner and everything in between. I quickly became overwhelmed and put it down and picked up the lunch specials menu. I ordered the lunch-sized Reuben and fries (if that monster was the lunch size, I'd love to see the full size), and my daughter ordered the chicken po' boy, which was roughly the size of a human baby.Food was delicious. Prices were great. Food came out fast and hot. We entertained ourselves by reading the menu and placemats while we waited. Be sure to check them out. Very good experience. Will definitely be a staple for our family visits if my daughter ends up at KSU."
