"We had a look through TA to find a last minute dinner reservation for a Saturday night and stumbled across Il Gusto with a reasonable ranking in Kitz. I called and got a reservation without a problem. We were really warmly welcomed to an outside...table in a bustling atmosphere with what looked like nice and wholesome pizzas being eaten. We were full of hope and then it all started to fall apart.... We tried to order in German but this clearly really irritated the waitress....We asked for water and a bottle of wine. The water arrived in mins but the wine took a further mins (with prompting which caused more irritation from the waitress) by which time we were totally gasping! As we waited it became evident that a number of other tables were also quite agitated with the long waiting times and were giving feedback. To be clear I am only making this review on our experiences and not what was going on around us but it seemed we were all in this together! After the mains arrived (hooray by which time we had run out of wine (boo).....so asked for a glass to accompany our meal. To our utter dismay the mains were overcooked and greasy and it was just a “oh for goodness sake,” moment. You can kind of deal with the wait if the food is amazing but it just failed to deliver anything...except irritation for everyone. That was enough for us so I asked to just pay and put the whole experience behind us. They apologized that they had forgotten our glasses of wine (again) and offered coffee, tiramisu (gratis) but I had to be at work on Monday so simply asked to pay..... At least they made an effort to remedy the situation. I could go on with other niggles but let’s just leave it here. I can only assume it was a “bad night” for them, staff calling in sick etc and it can happen but for me what is inexcusable was the frankly irritated nature by which we were treated. On paying and without being prompted they offered discount which I took without hesitation. In the end my wife and I just laughed the whole experience off but a return visit? I rather think not. I simply don’t have enough time left in my life...."
