"We celebrated our son 's birthday here and it was an evening full of surprises! Each dish from the charred caesar salad to the beef and pork skewers and Tuna Crudo was an absolute experience, an explosion of tastes and textures. Each creation came one after another to our table in a tantalizing parade of delights. At one point our friend Amy said she was experiencing Food Bliss and I couldn 't have put it better myself! Patricia, our waitress, was very knowledgeable about the wine and cocktails and aided us to navigate the extensive beverage list. Each cocktail was an experience in itself and paired very nicely with our appetizers, small plates, and entrees effortlessly throughout the meal. Chris 's hospitality is unrivaled! He took the time to chat with us and make us feel like family. He immediately poured us a fantastic sparkling wine so we would start the celebration off on the right foot. It was an evening to remember! If you have someone special you want to treat, this is the place to go. With Adam, the chef, creating magic on the grill and Chris providing hospitality second to none, Elmwood is a gem that would make any city shine. We are so very lucky to have a restaurant like this in St. Louis. P.S. THEY HAVE PIZZA!?! As well as the fine dining menu that we enjoyed there is a full pizza restaurant called Pizza Champ! While we didn 't partake in the pizza this time we will definitely be back to see what Adam does to elevate everyones favorite food. We have our eyes on the Taco Pizza!"

"I finally got to try Yellow Rose after seeing their posts since they opened. The bakery is cute and was very crowded when I went. It is in a cluster of stores in a residential area. I tried the donuts, poptart, and cinnamon roll. The items had a homemade vibe as opposed to a commercial bakery feel. For a lot of people, this is appealing. I was most looking forward to the doughnuts, but I was slightly disappointed and wouldn't go back for them. They would be better if they were less greasy, less heavy, and did not taste like nutmeg (especially doesn't go well with chocolate IMO). Not sure why vegan places like to put nutmeg in doughnut dough (Dotties in Philly has the same issue). I consider this a homemade style doughnut, and again I'm sure there are many fans of this style. The poptart pastry was very thick and I didn't love the taste of the big blob of strawberry jam, but overall, it was fine, just surprising that they'd go with such thick slabs of pastry. The cinnamon roll was okay reminded me of my own attempts at making them. Tastes okay but doesn't really achieve that appealing dough texture. It's hard to make really good vegan enriched yeast dough. On a positive note, all of the glazes/icings on the items were great. Overall, the dough/pastry recipes could use a bit of refinement perhaps. The stuff is okay to good according to my very particular preferences, but I definitely recommend everyone try the baked goods for themselves because lots of other people seem to love it. It just wasn't for me. Updated from previous review on 2022 02 07"
