"The restaurant “Römerkastell” lies idyllicly on the edge of the forest and offers its guests a magnificent view of the valley through the exposed altitude, provided that we get a nice table on the window. I recommend booking especially on weekends, because the restaurant was quite well visited for a Thursday. After a renovation in the front area, the bright guest rooms are stylishly trendy, in the next room through the yellow – orange walls and matching table covers rather Mediterranean. You feel comfortable. Service We were serviced by a young very friendly waitress, neat and unmistakable like the rest of the well-played service team dressed with a green polo shirt. She was unobtrusively attentive and fleees all night, always wondering if everything was right. As you wish, it reacts at a glance. The head of the house has a good grip on his team and keeps an overview; he also came to the table several times and let me talk about his restaurant in which he provided me with proof of his competence in the loose specialist lashes about steaks. A well-established service team is experienced in the Römerkastell. In addition to an optimally compiled menu with salads, toasts, fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, there is also a daily recommendation that the boss personally awards. Today there were curry sausages. Yeah, I thought it was a joke and asked twice. Of course, we did not come into question and we ordered a rag steak with pepper sauce to €17.90 and one with herbal butter to €16.80 with pommes and salad with homedressing or Vinegar/oil. As a greeting from the kitchen came a tasty pesto spread with two kinds of bread, which however came a little dry. The Argentinian Rumpsteak, estimated to be 280 to 300gr heavy and about 5cm thick, was of best quality, long-hanged, with great grain and aroma rich. Perfect medium to the point fried it was delicate in the bite, nice juicy and also visually a pleasure through the authentic grill strips. Qualitative and handcrafted barely topping. The pepper sauce, picantly seasoned, well simmered with plenty of wine for a long time, has harmonized well with the meat, but could have been a bit thicker. Supplements: I found the crunchy side salad with the house dressing very well, a fine well-dressed slightly sour cream dressing with fresh herbs. The vinegar/oil dressing of my wife could not score. The Pommes were made themselves, not to be found in frozen foods, or even often in high-quality restaurants. Here too, the buyer made a good choice when choosing the “ideal” potato, they were beautifully crispy outside, soft inside and juicy. For the great kitchen performance I give 5 star companions to the food: 0.75l mineral water at 4.50 €, 0.25l Karlsberg Ur Pils at 1.70€, 0.2l Côtes de Provence „Gilardi“ , les Arcs sur Argens, at 4.00 € Conclusion: handcrafted outstanding kitchen performance combined with friendly service"
