"According to the other reviews on this page, it seems to be met or missed with staff, service or food. But the first visit of our family in a Schoop's was great! Our server was super friendly gala, kept our drinks full. Food came right, was hot and fresh! My burger was fantastic and my wife's patty melt was the same! I'm sure if we're in a loop in the future, we'll blow up again!"

"Six of us enjoyed a wonderful dinner last night of Carabba. We put our name in, before the time, online. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and very sweet. We had a variety of meals, and everyone was very satisfied. I had the shrimp and sea scallop spiedino and it was fabulous! We celebrated my birthday, and while my dinner and wine were delicious, I must admit, my favorite part of my meal was the cream Brûlée, which was recently added to the menu, as a summer selection. Please keep the cream Brûlée! It was amazing and very few places in our area have it on their dessert menu. My daughter and I had it both, and we loved it!"

"I have eaten several times in this place and the last time was last Saturday. So far it's one of my favorite restaurants around Portage! The service is amazing and most foods are pretty good. Sometimes I get a supplement for my meal that is sometimes lobster bisque or the monster chili that are both really good and the steak is also really good. The experience of cooking the steak on the lava plate can be difficult, but it was not too bad and I also usually got the truffle friries that were really good. There were a few times where I would get the famous lava cake dessert that is delicious and really good. I hope I can eat here sometime! Overall, I would really recommend this place to someone who wants to eat somewhere in Portage!"

"Love the servers and bar offers. Great place. Great food and drinks. Loved the cactus chili. Homemade soup. White Chicken Chili. Many special items in the menu. Cekola's family has been working in Kalamazoo for years. I hope to see them for the coming years. This family continues to create small businesses in our community. They have supported Kalamazoo County for 2 centuries. They contribute to our area in a variety of ways. There's a great deal of generosity."

"Wow. Thia's only wow. What a beautiful place. You have so many delicious things. These chocolates look so delicious and their Boba is something else. I have tried some flavors like coconut, mango, taro, honey dew and others. I liked them all. But honey dew was average. Your new supplement Kiwi Poppers. Everyone should try."

"One of my favorite Italian restaurants ever! But to put the pretension aside, the overall service and the food quality work was! The server that has only been working there for 3 days was excellent to serve us and to be very understanding of our requests. Thus, our order was not made in any way and delivered for some neat and appealing or appetizing : Olive Garden is very quiet and dining room-like and is perfect for a family to catch or just go for a night! You will not be disappointed unless you do not like Italian cuisine:P"

"I have NO idea what people are talking about on here when they say that the Craftsman has bad food... Craftsman Chop Company has some of the BEST food I've had anywhere in the Kalamazoo area! Their staff is friendly AND knowledgeable. I love that the owners genuinely care how your dining experience goes- last time I went on a Saturday night and they came around with glasses of champagne for everyone waiting!! AND Craftsman is one of the few places in the area that takes reservations... which I made for next time. DEFINITELY RECCOMMENDED."

"Our waiter, Josh, was awesome! He was just attentive enough, knowledgeable of the menu, and quite funny. The rest of the staff was very professional, as well. The food and drinks were on point. Dining room and bathroom were clean and tidy. Definitely would return to this location, as well as recommended to friends and family!"

"Friendly staff, great atmosphere and we have our food at a reasonable time in the lunch break. This is the reubs and the German pretzel poutins, the pommes were somewhat soft, as a personal preference I like them a little Craspier and seasoned, but they were okay. However, you have the good ranch, buttermilk bar ranch, which is the best. The pig on the Bretzel bites makes it easy soup, but this is because it was not dry meat that is big, so if you order I would recommend eating everything then."

"I'm here from Texas and this has been my home for over 3 months. The best food and service in the city. Hannah, one of the waitresses is Bar none of the brightest and friendly people you will ever meet. ALL the waiting staff are the kindest you will meet, I just don't know all their names, and the owner is hands on from hostess to waiting and bussing tables. I miss my weekend meals here back to Texas. I wil recommend Meli to anyone who goes or goes through Michigan!"

"I've been coming here for years with my kids. Started when my oldest was 4, she's now 14. There are tons of games. Chuck E comes out once every hour to dance with the kids We ended up spending a little over $100. Got my 2 boys 90 minutes to play, 1 large pepperoni pizza, and 3 drinks. Only thing I have to complain about is the amount of tickets you need to get anything other then a piece of candy. 6000-8000 tickets is a tad ridiculous for a toy I can go buy for $5-$10. But my boys had fun so that's all that really matters!!"

"I found this little place when driving on Sunday afternoon. came by noon and sat immediately. The waitress took my drink order, but didn't tell me about the specials or asked if I was interested in an appetizer. C'est la vie. My Moscow mule just arrived and was cold and refreshing. I ordered the shrimp Sampi appetizer (a special after the board) and the fetters Alfredo with grilled chicken. The salad came right away. It was crunchy and fresh and correspondingly large. While I was happy to crack away, the scampi was delivered. The shrimps smelled wonderful and came to the dunking with a piece of baguette. The shrimps were well dimensioned and perfectly boiled, but the whole dish was a little under seasoned, but a bar of salt fixes it easy. Near the end of the appetizer, the tileuccine was brought to the table. The dish was hot pierced and the Alfredo sauce was perfectly rich and thick. I was in many Italian restaurants the sauce was very thin, not the case here. The pasta dish was also a little conservatively seasoned, but again a small line of salt and it was on site. Overall I enjoyed the experience here. The service was fast and accommodating, the dishes were fresh, pleasantly presented. I'll see through the city on my way."

"I have been to the CoreLife franchise in other states as well and I'm relatively familiar with the brand, but I was somewhat surprised to see some of the things I'm used to on the menu were not there. I'm not sure if the menu changes seasonally or if they went through a revamp, but I had to reacquaint myself a bit. Love their healthy options and their handcrafted unique beverages. No basic fountain drinks here! The restaurant was clean and there were some patrons inside, but the employees just seemed a little confused. Perhaps there were too many hands involved in making our order, but it seemed like it got mixed up with other (mobile) orders on the line and they had to ask repeatedly which ones belonged to us and what did we order. We got our food and it was correct, but the process just seemed inefficient.Food was great, establishment was clean, would visit again. Mayhaps just an opportunity day for service or new employees (which happens) but overall a good experience. Glad to know there's one in Michigan to visit when I'm passing through and craving CoreLife.Vegetarian options: Wide variety of vegetarian options. Can easily have vegetarian or even vegan by omitting animal proteins.Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu and the regular menu is great to share as well, they give nice portions.Parking: Restaurant has its own parking lot with plenty of space to choose from. It's located right off the main thoroughfare about 2 miles from the expressway so it is easy to find.Dietary restrictions: Great options for vegetarian and even vegan with modification."
"As a family Kumos was always are birthday place for over 20 years. Always great food, we got to know some of the chefs that watched our kids grow up. Tonight, First time I’ve had a bad meal. We were seated at a grill where everyone was already eating sushi, salad and soup. Chef was cooking when we got our sashimi…. Fried rice was not as good, veggies have changed and my filet mignon was unremarkable, tough and fatty. Sashimi was good. We will be taking a Kumos break and shop for a new hibatchi restaurant. We’re sad to see something has definitely changed."

"I have been to many Hispanic restaurants throughout Illinois and Indiana and have only been this impressed with service, quality of food, decor, and overall experience one other time. Everything from the complimentary chips and homemade salsa to the well seasoned and fairly priced chicken fajitas was phenomenal. It is very clear that the employees care about their business and quality of food/service. I really appreciate the restaurant holding no punches with the quantity of food they provided as well. The dinners came with rice, beans, AND a side salad with avocado. I was amazed by this and they supplied plenty of Chile and limes at no extra cost. Overall, Taqueria Mazamitla is the place to eat if you're in the area. I could not imagine having a bad experience at this restaurant with the incredible food quality they provide at very fair and competitive prices."

"My husband and daughter and I went to Suzy’s for a friend’s birthday dinner. They had a reservation at 5 and we were seated immediately even though we were about 10 minutes early. We ordered food at approximately 5:10. Most of the people in our party got their food about an hour later. I received mine another 10 minutes after that. I ordered medium rare prime rib and king crab legs. My daughter ordered chicken strips and fries. Half of the steak was like leather and couldn’t be eaten, but at least I could eat some of it unlike the crab legs. They were over cooked and tasteless…as were my daughter’s chicken. Even my 6 year old couldn’t stomach them. I would normally have complained, but I was with a group and didn’t want to make them wait for my food to be remade when we had already waited so long for the food. We spent $125 for mostly inedible food. We won’t be going back again!"
