"I am very particular when it comes to Japanese food. After living and working in Japan for many years, I am always searching for authentic Japanese cuisine. My experiences at Chacha were a mixed bag. The highlights: The ramen was excellent. We tried the traditional tonkotsu ramen and the seafood ramen, both of which were delicious. While the noodles were standard, the flavorful broths stood out. I would definitely return for the ramen. The takoyaki was also tasty, though it seemed to be frozen and reheated due to the uniformity of the balls. Nevertheless, they reminded me of Japan, topped with katsuobushi, kyupi, and a teriyaki or katsu sauce. I would order them again. On the downside: Avoid anything with rice at this restaurant. The furikake onigiri I tried was terrible. The rice was not traditional Japanese rice, but rather cheap, tasteless long grain rice. The furikake used seemed to consist only of extra katsuobushi, which I did not enjoy. I would not order it again. I also ordered the oyakodon, a dish I have enjoyed many times before. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The rice was uninspired, the tonkatsu was thin and flat, the egg was overcooked, and there were very few onions. The sauce lacked flavor, and the dish overall was dry and bland. It felt like I was eating a flavorless mush. In conclusion, the ramen is worth trying, but I would recommend avoiding everything else on the menu."
