"The food was actually lovely and I think we met the boss who was lovely too, but it would be better to say that you are full than to accept bookings during coronavirus and then seat us in an upstairs store room with no atmosphere, no ambience and no service. It is a great shame and a massive disappointment to us as we had looked forward to trying this restaurant. We live locally and dine out at least once or twice a week. We wanted to try the gourmet menu so that we could then bring our extended family when they visit. On arrival the waiter spoke to the waitress and they agreed that we should 'go upstairs '. My German is bad but I can understand! We were taken through a door that said toilet and then past both sets of toilets until we reached a room resembling a sitting room for grandma. There were 2 tables set for dinner at opposite ends of the empty room. We were so shocked that we didn 't know what to say not like us at all. We hoped that it was a coronavirus thing and that the service would be amazing. Before we had taken our jackets off, or even sat at the table, the waiter wanted to know if we wanted a drink. This is supposed to be a Mitchelin star experience! We are lucky and we travel the world. We love new restaurants. But, there has to be some level of atmosphere, ambience and service, or else we would prefer to stay at home. We like each other and are able to chat in isolation, but this is not what a restaurant experience should be and certainly not in a strange attic room where we could watch the ladies arrive to use the toilet. The food was lovely and when the man who I think is the boss popped in, he was lovely too. Why would he allow this? If we had been told they were full we would happily have returned. We wanted some more water but there were not staff to ask. We would have loved some more wine, but there were no staff to ask. We would have stayed for coffee and dessert but there were no staff to ask.Eventually another 3 guests were shown to the other table and we were able to ask for the bill. This other party were really unhappy and asked to go downstairs or outside. They spoke perfect German although were American. As we left we walked through a beautiful restaurant with candlelit tables and attentive service. Why didn 't we deserve this?I 'm sorry that this is in English but my German isn 't good enough yet. We were really excited to find such a highly rated restaurant near to us but were sadly disappointed and confused."
