"we have recently eaten as a group of people who are part of the fitness club of my man, in this place at midday. otts leopoldhöhe lies a few steps from the somewhat tristen main road and looks over the Rhine valley to the vogesen ... in frankreich am horizont as well as on the railway rails, among which the arrival of the railway was probably what gave a former village the status of a city. the roots of this city, however, are far more back to the Roman times, than imperial trajan there at n. chr. a station built on the Roman road from augusta raurica am rhein in Switzerland to north in germania. ott’s leopoldhöhe is not quite as old, but it is a historical building that has been a restaurant for years and has since been operated by the present owner. hotel restaurant has been tastefully renovated, but has preserved a cheerful and bright rustic charm with a lot of local character; there are many wood panels for a warm atmosphere. we had our apero down in the cellar and they are trying to say kerkers when they descend over narrow and stepped stone steps into a high cellar with vaulted ceiling. it houses zig flax wein, a large part of it from local cultivation, as the region between the Rhine and the mountains of the black forest favors a moderate climate with Mediterranean character, which is the opposite ideal for weinberge, which are abundant near. large old wooden wineries line a wall, which is now supposedly empty, only to fill the atmosphere from which this underground catacomb is anyway abundant. they expect the phantom of the opera to sing passionate borrower at any time or to find one of the less happy characters from one of these deliciously hair-bearing layers of edgar all poe, perhaps a la the cask of amontillado. we were pampered there with the wine with very tasty appetizers; spit with juicy, hearty chicken pieces, cheese poppers and veggie poppers, all very tasty. again in one of the dining areas we sat on a large table, smaller tables were pushed together. it is a white table cloth, a linen napkin and silver cutlery that are the kind of genuine article, with wine glasses where you can bathe, to small and flat, vaulted dishes, in which you can pour some olive oil to immerse the french bread served in braided baskets. now, I love brot, but French brot often tastes like old and standing gum that is spiced with sawdust; this sort here was fresh and tasty with a slightly crispy crust. the dishes were selected for our group: for the selection stand ossobuco with risotto or bark with sweet cubes. I wanted a lighter meal: no problem, they were very flexible, and I got a large salad plate with many salad varieties and nice presented and grilled putenbrust ... it was totally delicious and delicious, the salad all fresh. the two meat dishes were also very tasty and there were large portions; but most tellers were empty. I had chocolate ice cream for dessert... also really good! the service was very, very friendly, attentive and prompt, the welcome at the arrival was warm and welcoming. In summary, I cannot say the least negative about this place, not even mediocre. great eating, beautiful atmosphere, friendly and good service, good value for money, even if it is more expensive than other places in the city, but the quality is exponentially higher than many what there is. this is a place for special occasions, for upscale kitchen, for jubilees, birthdays, any kind of festive eating or just for an excellent lunch or dinner. because and the surrounding cities this is certainly one of the absolute top options.
