"Inspired by the great reviews and the great logo outside this eclectic looking building, we stopped at Atomic Dawg for lunch. When we thought it was a small joint with spicy mating seats, we moved closer and discovered additional seats above. The menu is a hotdog lover dream, with destinations like The D, Chicago Dawg, Manhattan Dawg and the Milwaukee Dawg. With hotdogs for any taste, the Hula Dawg, the Russians, the Swanky Franky, which build your own Atomic Dawg and the Purist Lonely Dawg all want to please. This is a sausage empire. Sausage on a colourful variations such as traditional Italian, spicy chorizo, Greek inspired lamb, southwest chicken and turkey as well as the interesting sausage of the week of Corridor Sausage Company are on the menu. Not in the mood for dogs or sausages, Atomic Dawg also serves burgers and a 6 cheese Gary's Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Choose your soda from the well-stocked cooler. We were glad to see Orange and Grape Crush. After ordering a Chicago Dawg and a Russian Dawg, I will take my Russians up with Cole Slav and not with Sauerkraut. What the hell? Let us become adventurous.” The friendly staff said they'd bring our dogs to us. We saw that there was another room – this place is bigger than it looks – and sat near a window. Atomic Dawg is a pleasure. The hot dogs were delicious. The choice of Cole Slav for my Russians was a great idea. All right! The music definitely seemed to complicate our experience. Our chef went in and mentioned that we heard the selections from his music collection that were compiled by his partner. With vintage lighting, tables, chairs and loudspeakers I felt like we had gone back in time. Nice to see the window in the interesting downtown of Berkley. Regrettably that we had not also ordered the freshly made chips, I went down to order some and they were raised for us. Hot and crisp, good with ketchup, they tasted like French Fries. The boss and the landlord mentioned that Atomic Dawg held a spoken word session where students and the public were welcome to hear some creative recitation. The two rooms lend themselves to the intimate poetry and music events planned in Atomic Dawg. Lunch for two at 23.00 was appropriate for an atmospheric upscale diner. The food is great. The service is fast and very friendly. Carry-out is available. Can't wait to try the sausage!"
