"When I heard we’d try Monte’s for the first time, I carefully studied the mouth-watering online photos of their menu fare. So my expectations were running high with anticipation. But their REAL menu — which is NOT POSTED outside their front door — will reveal a much smaller selection of dishes in reality. My friend ordered a simple steak, baked potato, and a serving of mixed vegetables. The price was 44 for this three-item plate. A small salad was included: The salad consisted of two ingredients: a handful of iceberg lettuce and one teaspoon of diced carrot. The first three salad dressings I requested were not available. The house dressing is Thousand Island with a touch of red pepper. Very little choice for your plain few bites of lettuce. We arrived at 5 PM, the opening time for dinner. I had to ask the one-and-only waitress to turn on the heat, after all it’s cold in February! The menu says tea is available, either hot or cold, but HOT means that lunchtime’s leftover tea is warmed up in the microwave. The steak was served drowned in a thick sauce which would have been better served in a small dish on the side so the consumer could have decided for himself how much sauce to pour over his steak. As for decor — I did not see any whatsoever. The small dining area has a picture or two of a flower on the wall. — but there is no theme, no charm, nothing at all interesting TO LOOK AT in this restaurant."
