"BEWARE future guests!! It’s worth noting that both the cabins and the lodge back up to an incredibly LOUD and busy highway where heavy traffic is flying by at ALL hours of the day and night. It provides anything but a peaceful, tranquil backdrop that Gateway Lodge is falsely advertising as a serene, magical getaway in the woods. While there’s no denying the beauty of the forest, the constant traffic noise from semi trucks flying by unfortunately took away from our PA wilds retreat. Had I known this, we NEVER would have stayed at Gateway Lodge. Food at the lodge was mediocre and overpriced. We were so excited to savor the taste of the PA wilds and that ultimately fell flat when everyone in our party was left underwhelmed by the basic food that was served. Multiple things were broke upon arriving at our cabin. We were falsely accused of soiling towels and charged $50 to treat and replace (which maintenance soiled while fixing our broken shower and replacing old parts and pipes). When I reached out to guest services to voice my concerns, I experienced the absolute WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced in my adult life. The owners of Gateway Lodge should truly be concerned that Guest Services management is as unprofessional and unpleasant as it gets. I was ignored for DAYS and finally when I got Guest Services on the phone I was greeted by the most unpleasant, miserable female who spewed anger and hate when speaking to me. She hissed at me that she didn’t like what I had to say in my emails and they weren’t worthy of a response and then hung up the phone. Inexcusable, unacceptable and incredibly disrespectful. The head of Guest Services is a total liability to Gateway Lodge legacy and should seriously consider enrolling in anger management before dealing with any future guests. NEVER again!!!"
