"Just the best. I haven't lived in Virginia for more than 5 years, and my wife and I still long for Allens. We drove all the way to Jiang's in Midlothian, and we saw the sign for Allen as it was in construction. We thought about how it would be a terrible place with a name like Allen. We were pressed one night after the opening and we went into and to our joy we recognized half of the people there of Jiang. Allen has many of our favorite restaurants in the city... Inside China, Jiangs and others I can't remember. The quality of the ingredients is what makes the food. The owners are wonderful people... Jan still recognizes us when we come back to the city and greets us with great hugs. It's always our first stop when we're back in Powhatan."

"I am not one to complain about food, however my experience was so bad that I felt compelled to leave a review (especially since I tried to talk to a manager, but one was not available). We order 2 dinners, 2 appetizers, and 2 desserts to go. We get home unpack the food and 1 appetizer is missing. We call to talk to someone and they say the manager will call us back, they are busy (never received a call back). We opened the fried mushrooms and they were over-cooked. So we move onto the dinners and my wife's chicken marsala is BLAND. I am not sure how it was accomplished, but they made the chicken with 0% flavor. I hate to say it, but 80% of the meal ended up in the trash or undelivered. I will continue to hold my breath until the call from the manager occurs. 1 star food and 1 star service!"

"I normally don’t give bad reviews but I was so disappointed today. First, it was a hot day around 90 outside so we thought it would be a perfect day to try their famous crafted milkshakes! When we walked in we noticed the door was propped open and it was hot. We asked the waitress what was going on and she said the AC stopped working yesterday and they don’t know why. We decided to stay anyway and began to order food. The restaurant felt dirty and the table we sat at was sticky. There was a table that hadn’t been cleared behind us full of dirty plates that hadn’t been cleared yet even though it wasn’t busy when we came in. We waited to be served and ordered their adult craft burger and a child’s cheeseburger. They were ok but not full of flavor or what we expected for the price. Then the waitress asked us if we wanted to try their famous crafted milkshakes. We ordered two and waited. It took over 20 minutes to finally get them. The table that came in after us even received theirs before we got ours. Again, it wasn’t busy when we came in, maybe 2-3 other tables had people sitting. But when we asked the waitress why it was taking so long she apologized and said they were backed up with orders? When the milkshakes finally arrived, we were hot and ready to leave. The milkshakes were ok but definitely not worth almost $20 each. I wanted to love this place but unfortunately after spending $80 on two burgers and two milkshakes in a hot and unclean restaurant in a strip mall shopping center, I was definitely disappointed. I’ve been waiting so long to try this place but I don’t think I could ever recommend it."

"I had lost faith in Subway due to many experiences or poor quality and service. This franchise knocks it out of the park on all fronts. Staff are very friendly, friendly and hard working. The ingredients are fresh and of high quality. We love to stop a quick bite and a laugh with the staff. Stop the good work."

"I had a fantastic surprise breakfast this morning. I had never visited this place while it was open before, so I was excited to try it out. I was not disappointed! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and I received a friendly greeting upon arrival. While waiting for my egg sandwich, I perused the business table and picked up a few cards. It's nice when customers can engage with the establishment. There were more tables than I anticipated, and even some outdoor seating available. The sandwich was delicious, but since I had to take it to go, I will definitely be returning soon to fully enjoy the café experience."

"This is the second time that we have recently been disappointed with our experience. The sandwich platters had fries and seasoned greens put in a styrofoam container for takeout and the greens leaked on the sandwiches and fries. The chicken tenders were overlooked and dry, and we did not get the drinks that come with the combos. We had enjoyed going here before, but will be a long time before we try again"

"We were a party of six, a 3-generation family gathering for Sunday brunch to celebrate our granddaughter 's 21st birthday. The restaurant building was fully renovated in 2021, and is very attractive and welcoming. The birthday girl and I enjoyed the 'mimosa bar ', and each of us saw at least 2 or 3 menu items that looked delicious. And.., they were. Everyone liked their meal very much; and I can especially recommend the fried green tomatoes Benedict which I thoroughly enjoyed. The other menu items we had were very well-prepared. "Orders 8 pieces tender and 8 pieces mixed meal with 2 pages. Didn't get cookies. They had to pull back and they wanted to tell me they were from cookies. Strange handling of it. Had to drop the chicken in the air frit due to soggy skin and maximum fat. The majority of the chicken was a terrible meal. Wouldn't give it to my dogs. Great job Powhatan. Will never go back. Should this place turn off."

"My wife and I decided to share the scallops and salmon platters. The salmon with grits was an excellent choice. The scallops dish was a PHENOMENAL choice. The scallops had the tastiest sear and they were served with an amazing (and quite large) risotto. The topper though was the shareable plate of brussel sprouts served over a sweet potato purée. Unbelievable. We had made a reservation and even though the parking lot was full, we were both seated and served promptly by a very pleasant staff. Well done all around. We will definitely be back."

"Though we were seated immediately, wait time for food after ordering, including appetizer (chicken wings, their specialty) was 50 minutes. Waitress told us how they were packed , with 5 empty tables behind us. I believe they are understaffed and staff they have are poorly trained. 1 of 4 entrees ordered never arrived and after re-ordered, came out when we were done (after we finally split one entree between 2 people), and it was still the wrong item. Each member of staff blamed the other for the mistake. In addition, they were out of multiple items, 2 of three entrees that were served were incorrect in toppings/dressings put on burger that were undesired and wrong side dish. Wings were good, but the wait for them was definitely not worth it. Waitress was apologetic, but we will definitely not be going back."
