"Being a Sunday, they had a 2-for-1 margarita special, so my friend and I decided to try the mango margarita, but we weren't fans; it didn't taste like a traditional mango margarita. Fortunately, my cousins ordered a frozen margarita that they enjoyed. I then switched to the watermelon margarita, which I found refreshing and much more to my liking. I appreciated that you could change your choice for the second round, rather than being required to order the same drink again.
To start, we shared some guacamole, which was underwhelming for a Mexican restaurant. We joked that it seemed like the chef got distracted and forgot to finish it, as it lacked salt and lime. However, we were laid-back about it, asked for some seasoning, and spruced it up ourselves at the table. The chips came with salsa, which was quite good.
Most of us ordered the iron skillet tacos for our main dishes. I chose the mixtos, which featured grilled skirt steak, chorizo, chicken, and queso Chihuahua, accompanied by a nopales salad and corn tortillas. The tacos were served with rice and beans for the table, but the portions were a bit small given the number of people we had. Still, we made do. One of my cousins ordered the salmon salad with pistachio-crusted salmon, mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, roasted corn, avocado, and queso fresco, and it looked absolutely stunning—especially for someone like me who isn’t a huge fan of salads. Her husband had the filet de res, filet mignon, served with a side of plantains and queso fresco, and he thoroughly enjoyed his meal. Another cousin ordered the arrachera, grilled skirt steak, but was disappointed that he couldn't substitute the arugula salad, as he also isn’t fond of salads. Fortunately, he was pleased with the generous portion of steak and we shared most of the rice and beans with him.
To top off the meal, they brought out a tres leches cake for my birthday, which I happily devoured. Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience. The portion sizes were decent and satisfying, although the prices are a bit higher for Mexican cuisine; however, that’s to be expected for the area. The servers were attentive, and I would definitely consider going back again."
