"I was looking forward to trying Mirabelle again after a bad experience we had when they were at their old location years ago. I had friends from out of town in and we were looking for an historical venue to go along with a local revolutionary war event in Setauket and The Three Village Inn fit the bill. Unfortunately, I was unimpressed overall with our experience. The waiter was terrific, no problem there. We asked for the Tavern portion of the restaurant, hoping for that old Colonial Tavern feel, which it partially delivered. It was mostly modern, not a bad thing, but not completely what we had in mind. We had some tasty appetizers. A Charcuterie Board that was good and a Butter Board that was also tasty. The crusty bread they served with it was delicious. We also had the raw oysters; small but good. Had we stopped there for drinks and apps, it might have been a good meal, but we all continued on with our entrees and that where things turned out to be disappointing. Part of the problem is the regular menu is not very interesting and for some reason they had no “Farm to Table” specials on this particular Saturday night. I had the Milanese style Pork Chop with a salad topping, that was tasteless. My wife and one of our friends had the signature Duck. For a French Restaurant we were expecting something delicious. Again, it lacked any kind of flavor other than the chutney that was served with it. It had no sauce, Au Jus, or crispy skin. All in call not, worth ordering again. My friends had the chicken which looked a little better, but no one was raving about it. I don’t know what the rest of the limited menu is like, but nothing else sounded really good. I have heard that the Tavern Burger is good, but for the price, I can get a good burger anywhere. Suffice it to say, this experience is not going to make us run back there any time soon."

"Only went once, so sometimes the first try is great and after that it’s goes all wrong. But the food was nice, there is a small vegan menu (very small). We ordered the pepper steak, it was good. The waiter did have to ask us if we wanted a particular sauce because the sauce was not vegan or vegetarian. I wasn’t sure what it was, but I think it was for extra spicy (not traditional fish sauce, but this sauce did have fish in it). So the waiter did get that this wasn’t vegan and was nice enough to let us know, so we were able to tell them to not add that fishy hot sauce thanks to his warning. We did have the veggie dumplings, the waitress did swear there was not any egg wash only veggies and no dairy. Usually it’s egg wash you have to worry about as per another Asian restaurant mentioned to me once. Although the dumplings were green and it had an ever so slightly sea taste, I believe it was seaweed in the dough, but I wasn’t sure to be honest. But the waiter seem to get we didn’t eat fish and such, he didn’t say this had fish sauce or anything. I tasted the filling alone and it did not taste like the sea. So I’m not sure, just FYI I am 95% sure dumplings are vegan, but not 100% sure. Oh and you do have to order rice or something, these dishes did not come with rice. But it was enough for 2 people to split, maybe three if everyone ordered their own bowl of rice, which is $1 each. I noticed on reviews elsewhere someone complained that they ordered something from the vegan menu and as the customer was picking up the order the staff had warned them that the vegan dish had bacon bits in it. They were confused as to why this dish was even on the vegan menu. So I’m not sure what that was about. But the reviewer didn’t mention which dish that was. I like the atmosphere actually, it seems authentic to me and colorful, but it was cold where we sat, and it’s cash for tips. So I give it 4 stars with vegan caution. It is small too."

"The food and the company is just lovely. If you go to u, you get this whole warm feeling that you will be surprised for the special dinner. Tonight I'm visiting the harbor jeff beer first dinner. The starter was sensational sea-red fennel staged sea paired with a sooner pale ale) Scallops was from this world that zucchini pesto brought a completely new meaning of pesto with sweet and spicy essences of fennel seeds and fried onions. To follow was Fried truffle Beef Marrow Mac cheese paired with rye n back ale) Omfg, if Julia Childs lived, she would not only have this dish once but twice and change the way of French cuisine. After an insight into the slightly fried Mac cheese, the aroma of the truffles and the touch of the beef brand filled the air and after a swallow of the rye n bakes gave him a beautiful great aroma of ickory and smoke. But what really started the crowd was the Braised Lamb Spare Ribs that glazed with their house beer bbq sauce / and a Jalapeño Potato Galeette. After I had only one bite of the lamb substitute rib, the spices simply changed everything, it felt like I was tasting and smelling every spice on the peasant market in my family holiday in Mexico. Mosimo is the most gifted cook in the Pentimento restaurant and has a fabulous task to pair any dish with any beer that really brought the joy of cooking to people. And like all the great artists, they have their muses to finish a detectable night, was a peanut butter tart that had roasted bananas / candied bacon with an amarena milkshake oat flakes) was created by their other chef Chelsea, who is really talented when it was a dessert that really brought quantity after more. The combination of peanut butter/chocolate brownie and bananas would make this immediate feeling of this childhood favorite peanut butter and banana sandwich with this remarkable taste of the candied bacon that could make your stop but not. You take the delicious swallow of the Amarena milkshake and feel like you were wrapped in a blanket of black forest dream for life. Congratulations to the staff, Mosimo, Chelsea and all in Pentimento for a wonderful night and would like to rate you. And Bon Apatite."
