"Do you like old, quirky and unique bars/pubs? Me too. After reading an article online we found an old fashion pub called Wilhelm Hoeck in Charlottenberg near the palace we visited. We are people who usually don't complain about things or make a damper. And also given the bad reputation that the English have on board, we make sure that we are polite and considerate and will try to mix if possible. This makes the following anecdote particularly bizarre. We arrived and were shown to our chair (probably tables were reserved). It soon dawned us that we were in a “local” bar. The way the old hunters shoot you suspiciously looks out of the table. Again, no rebellious or noisy behavior of us, a few quiet sitting and drinking. I even wanted to order in German. Are you sure that's okay? I admit, we are partly responsible for accepting card payments. It didn't look like that, and so we were easily worried because we had no money on us. And had drunk two bottles of beer. So, with contempt, I approached the bar. Before I could speak... “Yes yes!” She called, “I am busy, I am alone.” I sat back and waited for her stress to die. At the risk of being rude, the bar was not full or particularly busy I politely asked if they accept cards. At this point the waitress began to tell us that we had to pay cash and that my girlfriend had to wait while I made the 2 hours round trip to Alexanderplatz to get some cash. What a threatening and strange thing that yelled at us before everyone in the pub. (at this point, I must point out that there is nowhere just cash. And you would be forgiven because they take 2023 cards) Obviously we apologized and thought “S*%t, what do we do?”. Moments later she appeared from the restaurant side of the bar and Shouted ‘20 Euro’. At this point we were worried because we had no means to pay. “Save again! You shouted rudely, “Everything yes, please” we said “but how do we pay you?” “Same again”! She cried. So reluctantly we accepted another 2 drinks without explaining how we would pay. She just said, “Pay later” Maybe I would have to clean the pots in the kitchen to balance our debts. “Enjoy your drinks, no stress!” She cried. It was really funny how rude she was, like a German basil Fawlty. We stood up and put on their coats. And the bar approached to fulfill our destiny. At this point she pulled out a card machine. What the F**k? Hilarily, she said that the 15 euros do not contain Gratity and expects a top. I rejected this request. So we went back to the center that danced to the Polka band with Bavarian costumes. Avoid unless you are local."
