"We visited Maxing Stuberl for a quick family lunch between visiting the children’s museum and Schronbrunn Palace. Our main reason for visiting was because we had read the recommendation in the Lonely Planet. We wish we’d looked on here too. The first thing to say...is that the food was great. We didn’t see a menu, but the owner offered to cook up some food that she’d picked up from the market that day. We were offered schnitzel, salad, mushrooms and rice. It wasn’t great for the children, but they did eat the schnitzel. BUT...we were there for 3 hours!!! The owner was on her own and couldn’t cope with the 3 tables she had to serve. She was barmaid, waitress and chef (all food cooked from scratch). The mushrooms that were going to be ready in 15 minutes actually took an hour to arrive. She was lovely and we stayed so long because we felt sorry for her but it really was a long way from ideal for our 3 days in Vienna. A couple arrived while we were between courses. They ordered two soups and were told it would take 20 minutes. An hour later as we were leaving we heard them being asked what their order was again..."
