"The best opportunity that could happen to this beautiful old historic place is NEW OWNERS! Extremely poorly managed! Food was ok, nothing to write home about considering prices (which I gladly pay at some other actual fine dining establishments). Second time we’ve tried this place and the last. We called ahead and made reservations for Friday night on holiday weekend, no problem. We were the only party other than maybe 3 other tables in the entire place. Enjoyed a great dinner. Our service was excellent and loved the environment. Our food was delicious and had excellent presentation. Loved the smoked salmon dip appetizer!

First the positives. The building is beautiful and the ambiance is spot on. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. The food was just okay. For the price, we expected it to be better than okay. I would go back for drinks and apps, based solely on the environment, but probably not for dinner again. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

I was hoping this place was great but it was far from it. The steaks had no taste And tasted like it was cooked on a griddle. It was very pricey which would not have bothered me if the food was good. Our bill(party of 3) was $185 without a tip. We all had a horrible steak with one side. The only positive thing about this place was our waitress. She was great!!! "We stayed in 5 star hotels that cost $500 per night and they did not compare to this place. The Putnam Lodge is by far the best place we have ever stayed. We were just a walk at 9:30 a.m. the night when we were greeted in us, we asked for a room and continued to check. I asked about the restaurant that she said they were closed at 9 but we could get a bite to eat as they would be happier to take care of all of us was so nice and friendly we asked what would be easy for them to prepare as they were now closed and they said everything you want in the menu is okay. The filet mignon bites were amazing. We then drove into our room, but we got a tour through the hotel and told about the history of the lodge that made the experience even better. We had a wonderful night to sleep a good breakfast that is different, depending on what is there. It was great for us. The cats, chickens and peacocks as well as the other birds were really cool and we do not forget that the dog is walking around. To sum it up if you are looking for a new updated boring hotel, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a beautiful old historical place with a cool history and secret space and a place where Al Capone stayed, then this is the place for you. I'm not sure, but I'd say there's a good chance it's chased too lol."

"Everyone was super nice and helpful. Manager was even willing to let me use her tire air compressor when we needed air. (ended up not having it but thankful just the same) will return. "The place would be good if the service was good but to be honest she was rude impatient and did not act like she wanted to be there. You should really look into getting better help because the Amber girl that made our food was just a nasty person. If she continues to work there trust I will not eat there.."
