"Good solid long-standing BBQ smokehouse restaurant. Always but not overcrowded. Rustic decor. Friendly home town atmosphere. One of my favorites. Breakfast option at lunchtime. BBQ is all good. Standard plate lunches, sandwiches, burgers, poboys. Authentic New Orleans style poboys are uncommon in Baton Rouge. They just can't get the right bread. It's not available in this city. Most B.R. poboys are like a subway or hoagie. The bread at Frank's is better than most in B.R. and the poboys are prett … – show"

While waiting to be seated another couple arrived, the hostess sat the “other” couple instead. My husband asked, “why seat them before us?”. Her response, I seated them at a large table, they are cleaning yours. It was obvious to us, the color of our skin landed us behind the couple who arrived later.

"I have finally eaten at all of the fancy steak places I know of. Ruth’s, Sullivans, Buddys (Hammond , Flemings. Ruth’s was slightly more expensive than Flemings, but not by much. I ordered the ribeye at all of them for scientific research purposes. Food wise, Ruth’s has the best steaks, Flemings the best sides, and Buddy’s the best overall (it is by far the cheapest . The table bread was awesome. Steaks were cooked 100% perfectly, which is hard to get because medium means something different everywhere you go. I ordered the ribeye and my girl ordered the New York strip. The ribeye was better than the other three places ribeyes. My girl didn’t care for the New York strip, she said it was very salty. I didn’t notice, but the ribeye was definitely better. The salads were great. I ordered the chopped and my girl the Caesar. Both were great, and the chopped presentation was very unique. The sides were pretty disappointing. We ordered mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and broiled tomato. The tomato must have had sugar on it, it tasted like ketchup. The creamed spinach was bland, and the mashed potatoes tasted homemade (which is good for $3 side, but for a fancy steak place at $10 it needs to be otherworldly . Gave my girl a cheesecake since we were celebrating her birthday. Probably the best cheesecake we have had. Overall a fantastic experience. Our waitress Diamond was excellent and friendly. The water glasses did not get less than half full (or empty? . Bathrooms were immaculate."
