"My husband, father-in-law had a late lunch here yesterday. At 1:30 on a Wednesday it was pretty busy but the bartender found us a table up a few stairs overlooking the main dining area. Both he the waitress were very friendly attentive with quick service. The onion rings were light delicious, not greasy. The batter stayed on them well. They have their own mayo, horseradish, mustard sauce for them. We all ordered fried chicken. The fried chicken is great. One of the sides available is a local tradition, beef liver dumplings served with beef gravy. My mom is from Ste. Genevieve made those for Thanksgiving and other special occasions; I've made them, too. These were really good! So fun to get to have these again without the work! The Anvil has a wonderful historic warm atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable."
