Good food and service. Atmosphere feels like a strip mall however. I liked the Hayward location better, but that one closed. Parking: Free parking in strip mall lot. Kid-friendliness: Has a kids meal but no milk, only soda. Wheelchair accessibility: Single story with handicap parking.

Hey you, yes the one reading this review. Do yourself a favor and get in a vehicle, bicycle, run, walk..I don't care if you have to take a pogo stick to get to Old Southern Smokehouse. Get there and eat. You deserve it. The Brisket Sandwich changed my life it's that good.I was on my way to divorce court and really needed a good meal. My soon to be ex-wife smelled the Brisket on me and we are now back together.10/10

"I paid a lot of money to eat there. That said, it was nice, not a quaint eat at grandma's nice but a firm harrumph of approval and sip of a properly prepared drink nice. Our appetizer was the toasted brie and cranberry spread very enjoyable, we are ordering that next time we stop in for sure. Portions are quite acceptable and our beverages were prepared to our liking. The service was good and our courses were spread out accordingly. Our entrées were brought out hot and had full flavor. I want to state that for Rice Lake this is probably the nicest restaurant we have been to and certainly the most well kept and clean establishment so far. Only real negative was that the chairs don't have a great deal of back support so given that our meal took over an hour and a half to enjoy (no issue with the length of time as we had five courses) my back wasn't too pleased. A solid 9/10 my partner and I were happy we got what we paid for and will return again. "Service was absolutely extraordinary. I couldn't survive how friendly and helpful every single employee was. We'd come back alone. It was really great. The food was delicious. Deserts are huge and oh so good. The wild turtle cake is the dream of a chocolate lover. I really liked that it was just sweet. Most deserts are sugar bombs, but this was perfect. Just the right sweet and not overwhelming. The burgers were on the dry side and even though they were very good, they really fade compared to the deserts. The hot crushed baby red potatoes were really delicious I just wish it had been a bit more of this wonderful cream above. One thing I really liked was to get a fresh glass with a fresh lemon wedge when the waitress refilled our water. It was something special I noticed. The entire restaurant also glittered clean, which we had appreciated very much. Overall, the experience was excellent. We will definitely be back when we get back to the area."
