"The service rates 5 stars, but the food was somewhat less than that. The mushroom appetizer was bland. The stuffing had no seafood taste at all. I had the shrimp creole platter and it also was bland. Asked and was provided a little cayenne to flavor it up, and it worked. My wife had the crab and shrimp melt, and again, it was bland. I did like the prime rib chili, though. Dessert was satisfactory. Overall, food was attractive, but unflavorful, and not worth the expense. We will return, though, to check out the prime rib, on a night it's available, and other interesting things on the menu. Finally, the on line menu is significantly different and needs updated. We were excited to try the gator bites and other offerings that aren't served anymore."

"In Orofina, Idaho (population 3,142, height 1.030? the place for breakfast is the Ponderosa. It's on the Lewis and Clark trail, but there's no evidence they've ever eaten there. Okay, that was a joke. The Ponderosa is old, but not so old. You can park at the back of the property. The back door opens to a long hall where you can immerse yourself in the well-equipped kitchen. There is a sign on the ice cream machine claiming that the ice cream is only for the use of the restaurant. No personal use. I have torn my brain, but I could not think of a fact that would make this sign necessary, but there it was. There is also a sign in the hall saying that the non-following of Covid protection makes you enter guilty. Don't worry, but in practice they are pretty loose about adhering to the directives. I'm worried about it, but the Ponderosa is the only game in town for breakfast. My girlfriend, her granddaughter and I chose a centrally located stand to calm down. Our waitress showed herself with coffee and menus. The coffee was exactly what I needed this morning and the menus had all the things you would expect in a classic American breakfast joint. I like a big breakfast and the chicken roasted steak sounded like the thing. My girlfriend went for two eggs with bacon and the granddaughter had a pancake with sausage. We talked about our plans for the day when the food was suddenly there. My friend commented the speed and the waitress explained that Mike, the owner, was in the kitchen and? My girlfriend loved her eggs and bacon. The pancake was huge and perfectly cooked. The chicken steak was not everything I had hoped for, but it filled me up. I would like more pepper in the engraving and a Craspier coating. We were in a hurry this morning, so I couldn't get over my coffee as I like. Our waitress kept my cup full and I shook what I could while we paid the check and ran it out."

"Just finished the best meal I 've had here in alllll of Idaho (since arriving a month ago). Orofino 's little secret of a phenomenal restaurant: Dining on the Edge was above and beyond expectations. The blackened Ahi tuna appetizer was perfectly seared, the homemade bread was made with love, and the Salmon Oregon with cheesy crab soufflé... just wow... The salmon was cooked to fork tender perfection, and the soufflé was out of this world!! Topping it all off was the blueberry white chocolate cheesecake. My goodness!! To say, Heaven on a plate completely undersells this item. You 've got to try it. My server, Hannah, was on point!! She was very knowledgeable of the menu and cocktails, and honest with her recommendations which I highly appreciated. I was promptly greeted at the door and served with minutes. The service was spectacular. Riverside view with trickling waters below patio set up a lovely atmosphere to relax and thoroughly savor each bite. Thank you Chef and DotE, I will be back! Probably next week..."
